Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh visited Prayagraj today to partake in the Mahakumbh 2025, one of India’s largest spiritual gatherings. Accompanied by Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi, the Defence Minister began his visit with a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam, the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers.
After performing the ritual dip, Shri Rajnath Singh visited significant spiritual landmarks in Prayagraj, including:
- Akshay Vat – the ancient and sacred banyan tree.
- Patalpuri Temple – a historic underground temple.
- Bade Hanuman Temple – a revered temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman.
He also assessed the arrangements made for the Mahakumbh to ensure a smooth and secure experience for pilgrims and attendees.
Speaking at the event, the Defence Minister expressed his reverence for the occasion, calling it a privilege to participate in the holy dip at the Sangam. He described the Mahakumbh as a grand celebration of India’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
“Everyone should visit the Mahakumbh at least once to truly understand the essence of Indianness,” Shri Rajnath Singh said, emphasizing the importance of the event in fostering unity and spiritual connection.
The Mahakumbh, held every 12 years, is a monumental spiritual event attracting millions of devotees from across India and the world. Prayagraj, known as a key pilgrimage site, hosts this sacred gathering at the Triveni Sangam, where participants seek spiritual cleansing and divine blessings.
This year’s Mahakumbh is expected to witness record participation, with extensive arrangements made to ensure the safety, comfort, and convenience of pilgrims.
