MeitY Launches e-Toys Lab for Local Toy Makers

RR Team, November 30, 2025November 30, 2025
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), in collaboration with C-DAC, Indian Toy Industries, and LEGO Group, inaugurated the e-Toys Lab at C-DAC Noida during the convocation ceremony of the 2nd batch of young engineers trained under the Electronic Toys Project. The initiative aims to strengthen India’s indigenous electronic toy ecosystem and equip young engineers with industry-relevant skills.

Empowering Engineers from SC/ST and NER Backgrounds

The project selected engineering graduates from SC/ST and North Eastern Region (NER) communities across India. Participants spent one year undergoing comprehensive training, which included six months at the e-Toys Lab working on R&D projects and another six months in the industry developing prototypes tailored to market requirements. Each participant received a monthly stipend of Rs. 25,000 during the program.

Hands-on Training for Industry-Ready Skills

Engineers learned to design and develop electronic toys, gaining expertise in electronics, IT-based control systems, and automation solutions. The program emphasizes practical experience, innovation, and bridging the gap between academic learning and industry needs.

Inauguration and Remarks

Shri Amitesh Kumar Sinha, Additional Secretary, MeitY, inaugurated the e-Toys Lab and highlighted the growing market potential of electronic toys in India. He emphasized that Electronics and IT play a crucial role in building a robust toy industry ecosystem. Shri Sinha stated, “The CoE setup at CDAC-Noida for e-Toys will collaborate with institutes like NIELIT and MSH, fostering entrepreneurship and startups in the electronic toy sector. I wish the graduating students all the very best for their future.”

Industry Collaboration and Future Prospects

The convocation was attended by prominent figures including Smt. Sunita Verma, GC R&D MeitY, Shri Vivek Khaneja, ED C-DAC Noida, Shri Anirban Gupta from Toys Association of India, and LEGO Group representatives. The collaboration of government, industry, and academia ensures that the next generation of engineers is equipped to contribute meaningfully to India’s electronic toy manufacturing capabilities.

This initiative marks a significant step in nurturing an inclusive, skilled workforce, fostering innovation, and strengthening India’s position in the global electronic toy market.
