“Esports Builds Discipline and Resilience”: Khadse
In her address, Smt. Khadse drew powerful parallels between esports and traditional athletics.
“Esports demands the same level of discipline, mental resilience, and teamwork. It inspires youth to excel in the digital age,” she said.
She reiterated that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the government is committed to:
- Building world-class esports infrastructure
- Supporting career pathways for young talent
- Encouraging Indian gamers to compete on global platforms
A Government That Recognizes the Game
India’s esports journey took a major step forward in December 2022, when the Government officially recognized esports as part of multi-sport events. A Gazette Notification brought esports under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
In February 2025, the Ministry extended cash incentive programs—previously reserved for Olympic and Commonwealth medalists—to esports athletes and coaches. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) also joined hands to regulate and promote digital governance in gaming.
This dual oversight ensures policy clarity, aligning esports with India’s digital growth goals.
Olympic Dreams: India Eyes Esports Glory
India’s emerging esports ecosystem is setting its sights on the Olympic Esports Games 2027, scheduled in Saudi Arabia.
Government backing is expected to help Indian athletes compete on equal footing with international players. With improved training, infrastructure, and coaching, India could soon become a global esports powerhouse.
Indian Youth Fueling the Growth
As per multiple industry studies, millions of Indian youth now actively participate in esports, either as players, streamers, or support professionals. The BMPS 2025 tournament itself showcases homegrown gaming talent and ignites excitement among young fans.
By offering a platform for high-stakes competition, BMPS 2025 strengthens the bond between professional esports and passionate communities.
A Turning Point for Indian Esports
BMPS 2025 is not just a tournament. It’s a signal that Indian esports has arrived. With government support, industry collaboration, and passionate young talent, the sector is poised for exponential growth.
Minister Khadse’s presence sends a clear message — India is ready to lead the future of esports, both regionally and globally.
