Ministry of Coal Drives Special Campaign 5.0

RR Team, October 10, 2025October 10, 2025
The Ministry of Coal (MoC), along with its Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), has made significant strides under Special Campaign 5.0, implementing innovative practices aimed at sustainability, efficiency, and inclusivity across the coal sector. Launched to strengthen operational and environmental standards, the campaign continues to transform coal operations nationwide.

Key Achievements of the Campaign

From October 2nd to 31st, 2025, a total of 272 sites covering 15,73,560 sq. ft. were cleaned, contributing toward the overall target of 82,51,511 sq. ft. Additionally, 1,307 MT of scrap has been disposed, generating ₹7,25,88,953 in revenue. The review of 4,307 physical and 8,028 electronic files resulted in 5,100 files being weeded out or closed, ensuring better record management.

Creative and Sustainable Initiatives

Coal India Ltd’s mascot, “ANGARA”, sculpted entirely from iron scrap at the Central Workshop, Tadali, showcases innovation and commitment to recycling. Similarly, SECL’s Central Excavation Workshop at Gevra Area transformed industrial scrap into a large-scale installation representing India’s defense preparedness, featuring an S-400 anti-missile system model and a robotic soldier.

Inclusivity and Empowerment

WCL’s Patansaongi, Nagpur Area, inaugurated a ‘Pink Dispensary’ operated entirely by women employees, ensuring compassionate healthcare delivery. SECL also launched its first all-women operated Central Warehouse at Korba, highlighting increased female participation in coal sector operations and management.

Modern Cleaning and Digital Initiatives

SECL operates 20 Mechanical Road Sweeping Machines across nine areas to maintain cleanliness on coal transport and colony roads. Furthermore, the Ministry of Coal conducted a Cyber Security Workshop under “Cyber Jagrit Bharat,” educating officials about online threats and promoting robust cyber hygiene across all PSU operations.

Commitment to Excellence

Special Campaign 5.0 emphasizes institutionalizing best practices, ensuring operational efficiency, gender inclusivity, and environmental responsibility. The Ministry of Coal continues to build on the success of previous campaigns, demonstrating a strong commitment to sustainable growth and innovation in India’s coal sector.
