Ministry of Minority Affairs Launches New UMEED Portal Modules

New Delhi: In a major step towards digitising Waqf property management, the Ministry of Minority Affairs launched two new modules on the UMEED Central Portal on 30th January 2026. The Survey Module and Waqf Property Lease Management Module aim to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in managing Waqf assets across India.

Survey Module: Comprehensive Digital Framework

The Survey Module provides a robust digital platform for capturing, managing, and updating information related to the survey of Waqf properties. It enables real-time data entry and verification, ensuring accurate records for all properties under the portal’s purview.

Waqf Property Lease Module: Streamlined Management

The Waqf Property Lease Management Module facilitates end-to-end monitoring of leasing information. Key details such as lease period, lease amount, and other particulars are systematically recorded, strengthening oversight and accountability in Waqf property leasing.

Promoting Transparency and Public Participation

Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, highlighted the importance of these modules in promoting transparent governance. He encouraged State and UT Waqf Boards to implement the modules extensively and raise awareness among eligible beneficiaries.

Inaugurated by Union Minister Shri Kiren Rijiju on 6th June 2025, the UMEED Central Portal serves as a unified digital platform for real-time monitoring of Waqf properties under the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act, 1995.

Features and Benefits of UMEED Portal

  • Comprehensive digital inventory with geo-tagging of all Waqf properties.
  • Online grievance redressal for timely resolution.
  • Transparent tracking of property leasing and usage.
  • Integration with GIS mapping and e-Governance tools.
