Ministry Welcomes Tribal Delegates on Republic-Day 2026

RR Team, January 30, 2026January 31, 2026
The Ministry of Tribal Affairs hosted a grand reception today in honour of 90 distinguished tribal guests from across India, invited to participate in the Republic Day Celebrations (RDC) 2026. The event, led by Shri Jual Oram, Hon’ble Minister of Tribal Affairs, and Shri Durgadas Uikey, MoS Tribal Affairs, highlighted the vibrant cultural heritage and significant contributions of India’s tribal communities to the nation’s progress.

Immersive Programme Showcases India’s Heritage and Democracy

The tribal guests participated in a week-long curated programme in Delhi, designed to familiarize them with India’s democratic institutions, rich history, and cultural legacy. Visits included Parliament House, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya, the Museum Metro Train, and other landmarks, offering insights into the nation’s leadership journey and modern infrastructure.

During the Republic Day events, guests witnessed the grand parade, paid homage at the National War Memorial, attended the President’s At Home function, and participated in the Prime Minister’s NCC Rally, reflecting the government’s commitment to inclusive participation. The itinerary also included visits to the National Zoological Park and the Beating the Retreat ceremony, making their experience memorable and enriching.

Cultural Showcase Highlights Tribal Diversity

The reception featured a vibrant cultural programme with performances from five states—Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, and Odisha—displaying the extraordinary diversity of India’s traditional arts. Maharashtra presented the Sasan Kathi folk dance, linked to the sacred Jyotiba temple festival in Kolhapur. Uttar Pradesh staged the dance drama “Raktbeej,” portraying Goddess Kali’s triumph over evil.

Tamil Nadu featured an all-women ensemble blending Bharatanatyam and Silambam, highlighting discipline, strength, and grace. Gujarat performed the Dakla folk dance rooted in Garba tradition, symbolizing feminine power and devotion to Goddess Durga. Odisha captivated the audience with an Odissi-based presentation of Lord Vishnu’s Dashavatara, complemented by folk dances and culminating in a rendition of “Vande Mataram.” Certificates were distributed to artists and guests in recognition of their contributions.

Tribal Pride and Inclusive Nation-Building

Shri Jual Oram remarked, “Welcomed by the Ministry, our Tribal Guests carry forward the spirit of today’s India returning to their communities as ambassadors of awareness, progress, and inclusive nation-building.” Shri Durgadas Uikey emphasized the deep connection of tribal communities with nature, noting, “For tribal communities, the forest is family and the river a lifeline a bond with nature that defines their sustainability and resilience.”

The initiative reflects the Government of India’s ongoing commitment to promoting tribal pride, fostering cultural exchange, and ensuring meaningful participation of tribal communities in national events. By bringing together representatives from diverse regions, the Ministry reaffirmed its vision of unity in diversity and inclusive nation-building. Bh
