Mission Karmayogi Expands Civil Services Reform in Telangana

RR Team, July 4, 2025July 3, 2025

Mission Karmayogi Boosts Telangana’s Civil Services Reform Drive

In a key step toward building a citizen-centric and future-ready bureaucracy, the Mission Karmayogi team visited Hyderabad to strengthen collaboration with the Government of Telangana. The delegation held strategic meetings with Governor Shri Jishnu Dev Varma and Chief Secretary Shri K. Ramakrishna Rao, discussing the accelerated rollout of capacity-building initiatives across state departments.

Governor Endorses Mission Karmayogi Vision

The team, led by Dr. Alka Mittal (Member – Administration, Capacity Building Commission), briefed the Governor on the mission’s progress in Telangana. Ms. Navneet Kaur (Director, CBC) and Ms. Soumi Banerjee (GM, Karmayogi Bharat) accompanied her.

The Governor extended his full support and appreciated the mission’s goal of transforming civil services into a digitally enabled, performance-oriented workforce. He encouraged further engagement with local institutions and leadership to scale impact.

Collaborative Roadmap with the State Administration

Earlier, the Mission Karmayogi team met Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao and senior departmental heads. The focus was on aligning state-level training goals with the broader national capacity-building framework.

The discussions highlighted:

  • Customized training needs for different departments
  • Use of digital tools like the iGOT Karmayogi platform
  • Importance of department-wise learning pathways

The iGOT platform allows anytime-anywhere learning, offering courses in leadership, ethics, public policy, and data-driven governance.

Departments to Onboard Officers on iGOT

A major outcome of the meeting was the planned onboarding of civil servants from multiple departments onto the iGOT platform. The Telangana administration also explored how State Training Institutions can become key enablers in this transformation.

This marks a significant leap in Telangana’s journey toward building a skilled and adaptive civil service.

Continuous Learning for Better Governance

Mission Karmayogi aims to reshape how civil servants learn, adapt, and serve. By combining digital learning with real-world governance needs, it offers officers access to personalized learning ecosystems.

The initiative aligns with the broader goals of:

  • Atmanirbhar Bharat, by reducing dependency on external training
  • Improving citizen engagement and service delivery
  • Strengthening inter-departmental collaboration

The Telangana meetings reflect a shared national and state-level commitment to capacity-building reforms under Mission Karmayogi.

Looking Ahead

The successful visit of the Mission Karmayogi team signals a growing synergy between central and state agencies. With Telangana taking a lead in implementing competency-based training, the move is expected to enhance public service delivery and inspire similar partnerships across India.

As the iGOT platform expands its footprint, more states are expected to adopt tech-driven, personalized learning pathways for their officials—building a more responsive and effective civil service for New India.
