Following the BJP’s impressive victory in Haryana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a fierce critique of the Congress party, labeling it “irresponsible” and accusing it of fostering hatred. Speaking virtually after unveiling development projects worth over ₹7,600 crore in Maharashtra, Modi asserted that Congress is intent on creating division among communities, particularly targeting Hindu voters.
The BJP achieved a historic third consecutive term in Haryana, winning 48 out of 90 assembly seats, while Congress secured only 37. Compared to the 2019 elections, the BJP’s vote share increased from 36.49% to 39.94%, and Congress’s share rose from 28.08% to 39.09%.
Modi suggested that the Haryana results reflect national sentiment and confidence in his government’s policies as the Maharashtra elections approach next month. He accused Congress of misleading the public, especially Dalits, claiming they would lose reservations if Congress gained power.
The Prime Minister noted that while Congress attempted to incite discontent among youth and farmers, the BJP’s focus on development reassured voters. “The people of Haryana have demonstrated they will not be swayed by Congress’s hateful conspiracies,” he stated.
During the event, Modi also laid the groundwork for significant infrastructure projects in Maharashtra, including upgrades to key airports and the establishment of new educational institutions. He emphasized the need for a decisive victory in the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, asserting that the BJP is committed to development that benefits all, especially the poor, farmers, and women.
