MY Bharat-NSS Contingent Meets Dr Mandaviya on Republic Day

RR Team, January 26, 2026January 27, 2026

New Delhi, January 26, 2026: The MY Bharat–National Service Scheme (NSS) Republic Day Contingent and Special Guests 2026 interacted with Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya at Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, marking the spirit of patriotism and youth leadership on the 77th Republic Day.

Addressing the young volunteers, Dr Mandaviya underscored the transformative role of India’s youth in realising the vision of a developed nation. He said the government is focused on nurturing a new generation of leaders who are driven by national purpose rather than political ambition.

“As envisioned by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji, we are working towards creating one lakh youth leaders who are driven by purpose, not politics. These leaders will shape India’s destiny,” the Union Minister stated.

Youth as Pillars of Viksit Bharat

Dr Mandaviya urged the youth to adopt a nation-first mindset and actively participate in the journey towards Viksit Bharat. He highlighted that India’s demographic dividend is its greatest strength, and empowering young citizens with responsibility and opportunity is central to national progress.

He emphasised that platforms like MY Bharat are playing a crucial role in channelling youth energy into constructive nation-building initiatives, social service, innovation, and leadership development.

Key Youth Engagement Initiatives Highlighted

During the interaction, the Union Minister outlined several flagship youth engagement initiatives undertaken by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. These included the Pad Yatra in Kargil, aimed at fostering patriotism and resilience, and Jan Aushadhi internships designed to expose youth to public welfare programmes.

He also spoke about the scale and impact of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD), which witnessed participation from nearly 50 lakh young individuals across the country.

Young Leaders Contributing to Policy Discourse

Dr Mandaviya revealed that 3,000 young leaders were selected for VBYLD 2026, with finalists getting the unique opportunity to present their ideas directly to the Hon’ble Prime Minister. This, he said, reflects the growing role of youth in shaping policy and governance.

The initiative aims to bridge the gap between young citizens and decision-makers, ensuring that youth perspectives contribute meaningfully to India’s development roadmap.

Republic Day Spirit and Cultural Showcase

Secretary, Youth Affairs, Dr Pallavi Jain Govil, in her welcome address, extended Republic Day greetings to the contingent and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to youth empowerment, leadership training, and inclusive development.

Ms Charu, Contingent Commander of MY Bharat-NSS, shared her experience of marching on Kartavya Path during the Republic Day Parade 2026 and presented a memento to the Union Minister as a mark of respect.

The event concluded with a vibrant cultural performance by NSS volunteers, adding colour and energy to the celebration and reflecting India’s unity in diversity.
