Promoting Youth Participation and Electoral Awareness

National Voters’ Day is observed annually to commemorate the foundation of the Election Commission of India and to encourage ethical, informed, and active participation in the electoral process. MY Bharat’s initiative is particularly focused on youth and first-time voters, aligning with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Jan Bhagidari in nation-building.
The initiative integrates voter awareness campaigns with physical activity and community engagement. The “Sundays on Cycle” programme of Khelo India and the Sports Authority of India will be incorporated wherever feasible, combining democratic education with fitness and mass participation.
Extensive Nationwide Outreach
Across 36 State and UT capitals, around 1,000 MY Bharat volunteers will participate in a series of activities including flag-off ceremonies by constitutional authorities, felicitation of first-time voters, interactive voter awareness sessions, pledge-taking, and concluding public programmes. In 763 districts, district-level events will engage District Election Officers, local administration, elected representatives, and roughly 500 volunteers per district, with activities adapted to local needs.
Through this extensive outreach, MY Bharat aims to foster democratic consciousness among young citizens, promote voter registration, and ensure a uniform, high-visibility observance of National Voters’ Day 2026 throughout India.
Strengthening Democracy Through Engagement
The Padyatra and cycling initiatives are designed to create a participatory environment where citizens, especially the youth, can actively engage with democratic values and responsibilities. By blending awareness, fitness, and community action, MY Bharat seeks to empower young voters to take informed decisions and contribute to the nation’s electoral process.
A district-level press conference will also be organised to brief media personnel on the activities and outreach strategy, ensuring transparent communication and wider public engagement.
