Nationwide Youth Mobilisation
Dr. Mandaviya underlined that the initiative is a testament to how Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) has transformed into a powerful platform for youth mobilisation. He highlighted that young volunteers have repeatedly demonstrated their capability to rise during national crises, playing a crucial role in disaster management, community awareness, and nation building.
“The Aapda Mitras will not only deliver immediate relief but also provide psychological and social support to affected families. Their efforts will reaffirm the spirit of solidarity during these difficult times,” the Minister said.
Close Coordination with Local Authorities
The Minister instructed that all MY Bharat volunteers, along with District Youth Officers, must work in close coordination with District Magistrates and local administration. This approach, he emphasised, will help provide timely and effective relief while ensuring accountability and proper distribution of aid.
Relief teams will particularly focus on vulnerable communities living in areas rendered nearly inaccessible by floodwaters. Medical support camps, supply chains for essential items, and rapid-response rescue teams are expected to be bolstered by the presence of trained youth volunteers.
About MY Bharat
Launched in 2023, MY Bharat is a nationwide phygital (physical + digital) platform designed to connect, mobilise, and empower India’s youth. It provides opportunities for volunteering, experiential learning, and leadership development. According to government data, over 1.7 crore young people have already registered on the platform, actively contributing to initiatives such as road safety campaigns, voter awareness drives, and environmental sustainability projects.
By deploying the Aapda Mitra volunteers, MY Bharat continues to expand its role beyond capacity-building and skill development to include direct interventions in disaster response and humanitarian efforts.
Relief Efforts Continue
The floods in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh have caused extensive damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and livelihoods, prompting both central and state authorities to scale up their response. The addition of trained youth volunteers is expected to strengthen rescue operations and speed up rehabilitation measures.
With the backing of MY Bharat, the government aims to showcase the power of collective youth action in times of crisis, reinforcing the idea that nation building is not just about policy decisions but also about grassroots participation and shared responsibility.
