Namo Run 2025 Sees 6,000 Runners in Delhi

East Delhi witnessed an extraordinary display of energy, enthusiasm, and civic responsibility as more than 6,000 participants gathered at the Yamuna Sports Complex for the Namo Run 2025. Organized under the Sansad Khel Mahotsav initiative, the event was hosted by Minister of State for Corporate Affairs and Road Transport & Highways, Shri Harsh Malhotra, with a special focus on road safety and fitness.

The run was flagged off by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who served as the event’s Chief Guest. From school students and working professionals to senior citizens and fitness enthusiasts, participants turned the event into a vibrant celebration of youth engagement and safe road practices.

Championing Road Safety Through Public Participation

The central theme of the Namo Run—road safety—resonated strongly throughout the event. Shri Harsh Malhotra emphasized that the initiative aligns with the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about responsible road behavior. The large turnout, he said, reflects growing public consciousness and commitment to reducing road accidents, especially in urban centres.

The run served as a platform to reinforce the importance of following traffic rules, avoiding risky driving practices, and creating safer road environments for all. Participants were seen wearing road safety–themed jerseys and holding placards highlighting messages on seat-belt use, speed limits, helmet discipline, and pedestrian safety.

Reflecting PM Modi’s Vision for Youth & Viksit Bharat@2047

Shri Malhotra highlighted that the Namo Run is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of building a strong, active, and innovative youth force capable of leading India into the future. He reiterated that sports, fitness, and civic responsibility will be foundational pillars of Viksit Bharat@2047.

He noted that the Prime Minister has consistently emphasized the transformative potential of India’s youth, and sporting events like the Namo Run play a crucial role in channelling their energy toward nation-building. The Sansad Khel Mahotsav, he added, is designed to nurture local talent while strengthening community bonding through athletics.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Urges Youth to Embrace Fitness

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, addressing the gathering, applauded the spirit of thousands who arrived early in the morning to participate. She urged Delhi residents to integrate fitness into their daily lives and promote road-safety awareness within their communities.

The Chief Minister also underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing sports infrastructure and promoting grassroots athletic programs across Delhi. She encouraged young athletes to make full use of available schemes and facilities to excel at national and international levels.

A Grand Success with a Message for the Future

With the participation of East Delhi MLAs, community leaders, and volunteers, the Namo Run 2025 turned into a showcase of public cooperation and civic unity. Shri Harsh Malhotra expressed gratitude to all supporters, affirming that the success of the event proves India’s growing enthusiasm for sports and responsible citizenship.

He added that events like the Namo Run will continue to expand, motivating young Indians while strengthening efforts to reduce road accidents. With such overwhelming participation, the event signalled a promising future for sports-led community development in the national capital.
