National Youth Parliament Awards 2024‑25: Navodaya Wins

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs will host the Prize Distribution Function of the 26th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2024-25 for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas on Thursday, 15th January 2026, from 3:00 PM onwards at Mavalankar Auditorium, Constitution Club of India, Rafi Marg, New Delhi. Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice and Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, will preside over the event and felicitate the students and schools demonstrating exemplary performance in the competition.
The winning students from PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Suratgarh, Sriganganagar-II, Rajasthan (Jaipur Region) will present a repeat performance of the “Youth Parliament,” reflecting their outstanding achievement in the national-level contest.

About the National Youth Parliament Competition

Organized by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for the past 29 years, the Youth Parliament Competition aims to inculcate democratic values, self-discipline, tolerance, and oratory skills among students. The 26th edition, conducted during 2024-25, involved 88 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas across eight regions of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.

The program familiarizes students with parliamentary practices, techniques of debate, leadership skills, and public speaking, nurturing confident and informed future citizens.

Winners and Regional Merit Awards

The Running Parliamentary Shield and Trophy for first place has been awarded to PM Shri School Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Suratgarh, Sriganganagar-II, Rajasthan (Jaipur Region). Additionally, merit trophies will be presented to seven regional top-performing Vidyalayas:

  • PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Valsad, Gujarat (Pune Region)
  • PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh (Lucknow Region)
  • PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh (Chandigarh Region)
  • PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Birbhum, West Bengal (Patna Region)
  • PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Golghat, Assam (Shillong Region)
  • PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Medak, Telangana (Hyderabad Region)
  • PM Shri Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Mahasamund, Chhattisgarh (Bhopal Region)

Significance of the Scheme

The Youth Parliament Competition seeks to empower students with knowledge of parliamentary democracy and practices, fostering leadership and the ability to engage in constructive debate. By participating, students gain insights into governance, legislative processes, and civic responsibility, preparing them for active participation in nation-building.

The competition not only rewards scholastic excellence but also instills confidence, teamwork, and the art of effective communication among young leaders.
