Navratri 2025 Calendar: Dates Rituals and Colours for 9 Days

RR Team, September 19, 2025September 19, 2025
Shardiya Navratri 2025, the most celebrated of the four Navratris observed each year, will begin on September 22, 2025, and conclude on October 2, 2025. The festival honours Maa Durga and her nine forms, known as the Navadurgas. This year, the celebrations will span ten days instead of nine due to a calendar adjustment following Pitru Paksha.

Navratri 2025 Calendar: Dates, Goddesses, and Colours

Each day of Navratri is dedicated to a specific form of Goddess Durga, and devotees wear an auspicious colour linked with that day. Here’s the full schedule:

  • Day 1 (Sept 22): Shailputri Puja – White
  • Day 2 (Sept 23): Brahmacharini Puja – Red
  • Day 3 (Sept 24): Chandraghanta Puja – Royal Blue
  • Day 4 (Sept 25): Vinayaka Chaturthi – Yellow
  • Day 5 (Sept 26): Kushmanda Puja – Green
  • Day 6 (Sept 27): Skandamata Puja – Grey
  • Day 7 (Sept 28): Katyayani Puja – Orange
  • Day 8 (Sept 29): Kalaratri Puja – Peacock Green
  • Day 9 (Sept 30): Mahagauri Puja – Pink
  • Day 10 (Oct 1): Maha Navami – Rituals and prayers
  • Day 11 (Oct 2): Vijayadashami – Durga Visarjan and Navratri Parana

How Navratri 2025 Will Be Celebrated

The festival begins with Ghatasthapana, the installation of a sacred Kalash symbolising Goddess Durga’s presence. Devotees observe daily pujas, chant mantras, and recite texts such as the Durga Saptashati. Many also fast as a mark of devotion.

During the evenings, devotees perform Aarti and offer fruits and sweets. Cultural events like Garba and Dandiya nights add vibrancy to the celebrations, particularly in Gujarat and Maharashtra. On Maha Ashtami, special Sandhi Puja rituals are conducted, while Maha Navami and Vijayadashami mark the festival’s grand conclusion, symbolising the triumph of good over evil.
