Navratri Puja 2024: Rituals, Muhurat, and Essential Preparations

RR Team, October 3, 2024October 3, 2024

Navratri is a time for devotion, fasting, and honoring Goddess Durga over nine auspicious days. Observing the fast and conducting the Navratri Puja with proper rituals is believed to invite the blessings of the Goddess. Before starting your Navratri worship, here’s everything you need to know, including the first-day puja muhurat, required materials, and pre-worship steps.

Navratri Puja Muhurat 2024

Sharadiya Navratri in 2024 begins on Thursday, October 3. According to the Hindu calendar, it starts from the Pratipada date in the month of Ashwin. The Kalash Sthapana (installation of the sacred urn) should be done between 6:08 AM and 5:30 PM.

Ghatasthapana Muhurat: The first auspicious time for Ghatasthapana is between 6:15 AM and 7:22 AM, followed by Abhijit Muhurat from 11:46 AM to 12:33 PM. Performing Ghatasthapana during these times ensures good fortune and divine blessings throughout Navratri.

Essential Puja Samagri for Navratri 2024

For the Navratri Puja, ensure you have the following items ready:
Barley and soil for sowing
A water-filled urn
Gangajal (holy water)
Ghee (clarified butter)
Mauli (sacred red thread)
Cardamom, cloves, and camphor
Roli (red sacred powder) and whole betel nut
Whole rice and coins
Five Ashoka or mango leaves

Pre-Worship Rituals for Navratri

Before commencing the Navratri Puja, it is essential to first offer prayers to Lord Ganesha. According to tradition, no auspicious ceremony or worship should begin without meditating on Lord Ganesha. To begin, perform the Jalabhishek (water offering) of the deity, offer sandalwood and flowers, and bow in reverence. Once this is done, you can proceed with the Navratri Puja rituals, ensuring that every step is carried out with devotion and care.
