NCB–Delhi Police Bust Mega Meth Cartel in Delhi Raid

NCB–Delhi Police Bust Mega Meth Cartel Under Operation ‘Crystal Fortress’

In one of the biggest narcotics crackdowns witnessed in the national capital, a joint team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police has seized 328 kg of high-quality methamphetamine worth an estimated ₹262 crore. The seizure was made during a coordinated operation codenamed “Crystal Fortress”, which targeted a trans-national synthetic drug network operating across multiple states and foreign jurisdictions.Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah congratulated the agencies for the breakthrough, calling it a “brilliant example of seamless multi-agency coordination” in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a drug-free India. He emphasised that the government is disrupting drug cartels “at an unprecedented pace” using both top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top investigative strategies.

Massive Seizure from Chhatarpur Safe-House

The decisive raid was carried out on 20 November 2025 at a house in Chhatarpur, Delhi, following months of intelligence collection, surveillance, and analysis of technical data. The OPS Branch of the NCB collaborated closely with the Special Cell (CI) of Delhi Police to identify the safe-house used by traffickers to store and route consignments.

According to officials, the narcotics recovered were of “exceptionally high purity,” consistent with synthetic drugs trafficked through sophisticated international networks. The house was reportedly used as a logistic hub for both domestic distribution and overseas smuggling channels.

Key Operatives Arrested; International Links Under Probe

Two individuals, including a woman from Nagaland, were arrested with assistance from the Nagaland Police. Investigators believe she played a crucial role in housing and facilitating the bulk consignment. The arrested accused are currently being interrogated to trace financial flows, communication routes, and handlers spread across multiple states.

Authorities have also identified an alleged kingpin who operates from abroad. He is believed to be linked to last year’s seizure of 82.5 kg of high-grade cocaine in Delhi. Efforts are underway through coordination with foreign law enforcement partners to secure his deportation to India.

One of Delhi’s Biggest Methamphetamine Hauls

The seizure ranks among the largest methamphetamine confiscations ever recorded in Delhi. Preliminary investigations reveal that the cartel operated through a deeply layered supply chain involving multiple couriers, temporary safe-houses, and electronic communication channels spread across state borders.

Officials said that Delhi was being used as a “major synthetic drug transit point,” with consignments routed to both Indian metros and foreign markets possibly Southeast Asia and Africa. Advanced packaging, concealed storage, and transport modifications indicate the network’s high operational sophistication.

Crystal Fortress: A Model for Future Anti-Drug Campaigns

NCB said Operation Crystal Fortress is part of a long-term strategy targeting synthetic drugs, which are increasingly preferred by cartels due to ease of production and transit. The operation demonstrates the growing use of intelligence-driven, technology-backed approaches to dismantle organised drug syndicates.

The agency also urged public participation in its anti-drug campaign. Citizens can report narcotics-related information through the MANAS National Narcotics Helpline  1933.

With growing emphasis on inter-agency cooperation, officers believe such operations will intensify nationwide as agencies target both street-level peddlers and international masterminds. The latest seizure, they say, sends a strong message to traffickers exploiting India as a transit or storage point.
