NCB–Delhi Police Seize 328 kg Meth in Major Crackdown

New Delhi — In a major breakthrough against synthetic drug trafficking, a joint team of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) and Delhi Police on 20 November 2025 seized approximately 328 kg of high-quality methamphetamine from a residence in Chhatarpur, Delhi — an estimated street value of around ₹262 crore. Two persons have been arrested and the probe is ongoing to dismantle the cartel’s trans-national network.

Operation ‘Crystal Fortress’: Intelligence-Led Crackdown

Operation “Crystal Fortress” was an intelligence-driven, multi-month operation led by the NCB’s OPS Branch in close coordination with the Special Cell (Crime Branch), Delhi Police. The breakthrough followed sustained technical intercepts and field intelligence that exposed a sophisticated trafficking chain using multiple couriers, safe houses and layered handlers.

Investigators say Delhi functioned as a major distribution hub for the cartel—supplying markets within India and serving as a conduit to overseas destinations. Authorities have identified additional operatives, including a suspected kingpin believed to be operating from abroad; efforts are underway with international enforcement partners to secure his deportation to India for prosecution.

Arrests and Links to Earlier Cases

Two persons were detained at the site of the seizure; both have been arrested after preliminary legal processes. Among those arrested is a woman from Nagaland whose residence served as the location from which the bulk of the narcotics were recovered, with support from Nagaland Police. Officials say the investigation has unearthed links to an earlier high-profile case in which 82.5 kg of cocaine was seized in Delhi last year, and the suspected international kingpin is wanted in that matter as well.

Scale and Significance of the Seizure

Authorities have described this as one of the largest methamphetamine seizures in Delhi in recent years. Given the high purity reported by investigators, the haul is expected to have dealt a severe financial and operational blow to the organised group behind it. The NCB affirmed that dismantling such synthetic drug networks remains a top priority, especially as synthetic narcotics increasingly forge trans-national criminal linkages.

Government Reaction and Multi-Agency Coordination

Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah congratulated the joint team of the NCB and Delhi Police on X (formerly Twitter), calling the operation “a brilliant example of seamless multi-agency coordination” and crediting it to the government’s “top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top” investigative approach. He said the success advances Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a drug-free India.

The operation underscores enhanced intelligence sharing and operational synchrony between central, state and international partners — a pattern authorities say will continue as they target high-volume synthetic drug syndicates.

Ongoing Investigation and Public Appeal

Investigators confirmed that further arrests and seizures are possible as the probe unfolds. The NCB has urged citizens to assist law enforcement by reporting information related to narcotics supply or suspicious activity.
