The National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) has advised the Union Government regarding the inclusion of several castes and communities from Maharashtra in the Central List of Other Backward Classes (OBCs). The recommended groups are:
Lodh, Lodha, Lodhi- Badgujar
- Suryavanshi Gujar
- Leve Gujar, Reve Gujar, Reva Gujar
- Dangari
- Bhoyar, Pawar
- Kapewar, Munnar Kapewar, Munnar Kapu, Telanga, Telangi, Pentarreddy, Bukekari
The NCBC’s two-member panel, consisting of Chairperson Shri Hansraj Gangaram Ahir and Member Shri Bhuvan Bhushan Kamal, conducted hearings on this matter in Mumbai on October 17, 2023, and July 26, 2024. The decision to recommend inclusion was finalized on October 8, 2024.
