Record Disposal Rates Across States
Data from the Department of Consumer Affairs reveals that NCDRC achieved a disposal rate of 122%, while Tamil Nadu led with 277%. Other states performing exceptionally include Rajasthan (214%), Telangana (158%), Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand (150% each), Meghalaya (140%), Kerala (122%), Puducherry (111%), Chhattisgarh (108%), and Uttar Pradesh (101%).
Overall, the July 2025 disposal rate surpassed figures for the same period in 2024, reflecting concerted efforts to resolve consumer disputes swiftly and effectively.
e-Jagriti: Transforming Consumer Grievance Redressal
The Department of Consumer Affairs launched the next-generation digital platform, e-Jagriti, on 1st January 2025. Since then, over two lakh users, including NRIs, have registered, and 85,531 cases have been filed this year alone.
e-Jagriti integrates legacy systems like OCMS, e-Daakhil, NCDRC CMS, and CONFONET, providing a unified interface. Users can file complaints via OTP authentication, track case progress, pay fees online or offline, and attend virtual hearings from anywhere in India or abroad.

Tamil Nadu
A consumer in Dharmapuri received ₹14,249 as a refund for a defective television, ₹5,000 for mental anguish, and ₹10,000 for litigation costs. In Thanjavur, another consumer was awarded ₹99,500 plus 9% interest, ₹500,000 compensation, and ₹10,000 litigation costs for NEET coaching refund.
Punjab
In Barnala, a consumer won a refund of ₹3.09 lakh for defective tiles causing structural issues, along with ₹10,000 for mental anguish and ₹5,000 litigation costs, including 7% interest.
Haryana
In Rewari, a defective dishwasher case resulted in ₹48,000 refund, ₹13,097 AMC reimbursement, and ₹25,000 compensation for harassment.
Gujarat
In Ahmedabad, a consumer denied Mediclaim reimbursement was awarded full refund, 7% interest, and ₹2,000 each for harassment and litigation costs.
