NESTS Unveils GI-Tagged Tribal Painting Album & Diaries

New Delhi: The National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS) today unveiled a series of initiatives to promote tribal education and cultural heritage at its headquarters in New Delhi. Shri Vibhu Nayar, Secretary of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, released a GI-Tagged Tribal Painting Album titled Canvas of Tribal Culture, along with academic diaries for teachers, students, and class monitors of Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRSs).
The event showcased the creativity of EMRS students who brought GI-tagged paintings to life. An exhibition featuring these artworks is scheduled for November 2025, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of India’s tribal communities.

Innovative Academic Diaries

NESTS introduced diaries aimed at streamlining academic and co-curricular monitoring. The Teacher Diary encourages reflective teaching, helping educators track student progress and plan lessons effectively. The Student Diary fosters self-discipline and reflection by recording daily academic activities, while the Class Monitor Diary promotes leadership, teamwork, and accountability among students.

These diaries are part of NESTS’ broader effort to strengthen holistic education in EMRS institutions.

Compendium of Circulars for EMRS Schools

To support school management and administrative efficiency, NESTS consolidated various circulars into two volumes: Volume I for Construction-related circulars, and Volume II for Academic and Administrative guidance. This compendium simplifies access to crucial directives for EMRS principals and educators, ensuring smooth operations and improved educational outcomes.

Felicitating EMRS Achievers

During the event, Shri Asad Ahmad, Principal of EMRS Chhuri Kala, Chhattisgarh, received the National Recognition Certificate for 2024-25 as the best teacher in EMRS schools. Shri Praveen Kumar Mishra, Principal of EMRS Butyagudam, was recognized for maintaining the cleanest residential school under the Swachh Andhra–Swarn Andhra initiative.

The Secretary praised the efforts of EMRS principals, teachers, and NESTS officials for empowering tribal youth through education while nurturing creativity and cultural pride.

Highlighting Key NESTS Initiatives

NESTS presented its major initiatives, including skill-based subjects, the Tribal Corner initiative, and student participation in national-level programs like the Rashtriya Bal Vaigyanik Pradarshani and the INSPIRE–MANAK Scheme. Updates from Finance and Civil Departments on construction progress and fund utilization were also shared, demonstrating the society’s comprehensive approach to tribal education.

Shri Vibhu Nayar emphasized that culturally responsive and innovative initiatives, such as those introduced by NESTS, are vital for fostering holistic education, nurturing creativity, and instilling pride in tribal heritage among students.
