The National Film Development Corporation of India (NFDC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, has launched an exciting new opportunity for youth from the Northeast. This free, 8-month residential training in 3D Animation and VFX is designed to empower aspiring digital artists from the region with world-class skills.
Opportunity for the Northeast Region
This government-backed initiative is open exclusively to residents of the eight Northeastern states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura. Applicants must be at least 18 years old as of June 2025 and must have completed 10+2 or be a 10th pass with three years of relevant experience.
The training will be held in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, at a fully-equipped facility. The program is completely free. This includes tuition, accommodation, meals, and even a personal laptop for each selected participant.

Bridging the Skill Gap
India’s digital economy is expanding rapidly, especially in the fields of animation, visual effects, and content creation. However, talent from the Northeastern region often lacks access to high-quality training infrastructure.
This initiative addresses that gap. By offering free training in animation and VFX, NFDC aims to bridge regional disparities and provide a level playing field.
Beyond Skills: Empowering Futures
This is not just a skill-building program. It’s a life-changing opportunity. Upon completion, participants will receive a Joint Certificate from NFDC and the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET).
Graduates will be better prepared for careers in the media and entertainment industry—whether as freelancers, employees in studios, or as digital entrepreneurs.
Recognizing Untapped Potential
NFDC’s decision to focus on the Northeast stems from the region’s creative and cultural richness. Despite its talent pool, the region remains underrepresented in India’s M&E industry.
This is the third edition of NFDC’s residential program for the North East. Previous batches have helped create a pipeline of digital artists, many of whom are now employed or running their own ventures.
NFDC’s Expanding Role
NFDC, known for its work in promoting meaningful Indian cinema, has evolved into a key skill development agency. It now delivers end-to-end training solutions—including curriculum design, classroom delivery, certification, and placement support.
This initiative is part of NFDC’s wider commitment to the Skilling India mission, especially in emerging sectors like VFX, animation, gaming, and digital media.
Why This Matters
Digital storytelling is the future. Movies, advertising, OTT platforms, and even education rely on high-quality animation and VFX. By investing in youth from remote and underserved areas, India ensures that no talent is left behind in the digital revolution.
More importantly, it transforms lives—by providing skills, jobs, and self-confidence.
Act Fast—Limited Seats
Only 100 candidates will be selected after a rigorous screening process. If you or someone you know is passionate about animation, this is the moment to step forward.
Apply before 15th August 2025 and take your first step into the digital creative industry.
