Government’s Commitment to Healthcare Expansion
Dr Sheth emphasized the government’s determination to increase the number of doctors uniformly across India to meet the World Health Organization’s recommended ratio of 1:1000. He shared ongoing efforts to balance undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats at a 1:1 ratio, aiming to improve healthcare quality in line with global standards.
Innovative Medical Education Initiatives
Highlighting educational advancements, Dr Sheth noted that the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences and NMC are integrating skill-based training and virtual learning with traditional medical education. These initiatives are designed to align with competency-based medical education, preparing students for evolving healthcare challenges.

Dr Vinod Kotwal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, praised the students’ dedication and ABVIMS’ recent NABH accreditation, which reflects high standards in patient-centered care. Dr Sunita Sharma, DGHS, urged graduates to uphold empathy, evidence-based practice, and excellence in their medical careers, stressing the ethical responsibility inherent in the medical profession.
Convocation Highlights
The event witnessed the presentation of degrees to 250 PG/DM students and the first 100 MBBS graduates of ABVIMS. Additionally, the annual report of ABVIMS, Samhita, was released, showcasing achievements and future plans of the institute. Senior officials, faculty members, and parents attended, celebrating the accomplishments of the graduating cohort.

Founded in 1932 as Willingdon Nursing Home, RMLH is now a 1,532-bedded tertiary care hospital providing extensive specialty and super-specialty services. Renamed ABVIMS & RMLH in 2019, the institute offers 100 MBBS seats annually along with 203 postgraduate and 48 DM/MCh seats. Serving nearly 12 lakh outpatients and 60,000 inpatients each year, the hospital also caters to CGHS beneficiaries, MPs, Ministers, Judges, and VVIP dignitaries.
