NMDC Champions Integrity During Vigilance Week 2025

RR Team, November 3, 2025November 4, 2025
Hyderabad, November 3: NMDC Limited, India’s largest iron ore producer, concluded its week-long Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 with a spirited valedictory ceremony at its corporate headquarters in Hyderabad. Centered around the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility,” the observance underscored the importance of ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability as essential values in public and corporate governance. The Vigilance Awareness Week, observed from October 27 to November 1, 2025, was part of NMDC’s continuing commitment to strengthen organizational integrity and foster a culture of trust. Throughout the week, employees, officers, and community members took part in competitions, awareness sessions, and outreach initiatives.

Nationwide Campaign on Ethical Practices

NMDC’s Vigilance Department had earlier launched a three-month-long awareness campaign beginning on August 18, 2025, to spread the message of integrity across its projects and operational sites. The campaign will continue till November 17, focusing on digital awareness drives, essay and elocution contests, and capacity-building programs led by serving and retired government officers.

A key highlight of this year’s initiative was the introduction of the iGOT training module, through which NMDC officers receive online training on vigilance mechanisms and preventive strategies. To extend these values beyond the company’s boundaries, NMDC also organized Gram Sabhas at its project sites to engage local communities in the dialogue on ethical conduct and good governance.

Leaders Emphasize Integrity as a Habit

The valedictory ceremony on November 1 featured a keynote address by Major General Ajay Misra, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Sub Area. He emphasized that integrity forms the cornerstone of institutional success, stating, “Integrity is not a virtue we display when someone is watching it is the essence of our character. When integrity becomes a habit, vigilance becomes effortless, allowing institutions like NMDC to thrive on credibility and trust.”

The event was attended by NMDC’s senior leadership including Shri Vinay Kumar (Director – Technical), Shri Joydeep Dasgupta (Director – Production), Smt. Priyadarshini (Director – Personnel), and Shri C. Neelakanta Reddy (Chief Vigilance Officer), along with employees and participants from across NMDC’s operations.

Reflecting on NMDC’s evolution, Shri Vinay Kumar commended the vigilance team’s proactive approach and said, “The Vigilance Department at NMDC is not just a watchdog it’s a catalyst for change. With digital tools, data-driven insights, and preventive vigilance, we’re ensuring fairness and transparency at every level.”

Building Awareness from Schools to Mines

Chief Vigilance Officer Shri C. Neelakanta Reddy highlighted the department’s outreach efforts in regions like Hyderabad, Bailadila, Jagdalpur, Nagarnar, Panna, and Donimalai. He noted that the awareness programs reached thousands of students, encouraging them to view honesty as a lifelong value. “Vigilance is not confined to checklists it’s a living principle that guides how we think, act, and lead,” he remarked.

He emphasized NMDC’s commitment to building systems that detect and prevent misconduct while promoting transparency. The programs, guided by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), reflect NMDC’s belief that a corruption-free environment begins with awareness and education.

Celebrating Integrity as a Shared Mission

The week-long observance featured essay writing, drawing, quiz, and elocution competitions across NMDC’s offices and project sites. Winners were recognized during the valedictory ceremony for their creativity and contributions in promoting the spirit of vigilance.

NMDC’s Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 concluded with a collective pledge to sustain ethical conduct and uphold institutional values. The initiative reaffirmed NMDC’s role as a model for transparent governance, reminding everyone that “Integrity is everyone’s business, and vigilance is a shared promise.”
