Operation Sindhu: India Rescues Students from Iran War

🇮🇳 India Brings Home Students from Iran Under Operation Sindhu

New Delhi, June 19, 2025 — Over 100 Indian students caught in the Iran-Israel conflict returned to Delhi early Thursday. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) launched Operation Sindhu to bring them home.

Indian authorities coordinated their movement from Tehran to Armenia by land. From there, the students boarded a flight to Delhi. Their journey ended with relief, smiles, and gratitude.

🎓 “We Saw Missiles”: Students Share Scary Moments

After landing, students shared what they faced in Iran. Yasir Gaffar, an MBBS student from Urmia University, said:

“We saw missiles passing by. Loud sounds shook our nights. But I never gave up on my dream. I’m glad to be back in India.”

Another student added:

“In Urmia, things felt calm. But we heard horror stories from other areas. We’re thankful to the Indian government. Without their help, we wouldn’t be home.”

Their stories reflect fear but also hope. Some stayed awake for nights, worried about safety. Yet, they believed India would step in—and it did.

🙏 Thank You, India: Parents and Students Show Gratitude

Mariam Roz, a returning student, said:

“The Embassy did everything for us. From transport to food—we faced no issues.”

Parents, too, expressed joy and relief. Many waited at Delhi airport with garlands. Tears rolled down faces as families reunited.

The students thanked the MEA, embassy officials, and support staff. They praised the prompt response and coordination.

✈️ India Acts Fast: What Is Operation Sindhu?

On June 18, India launched Operation Sindhu, a mission to rescue Indians from war-affected regions in Iran.

The MEA issued a statement:

“As tensions between Iran and Israel rise, India has taken strong steps to ensure the safety of its people in the region.”

This wasn’t the first time India acted fast. The government has a growing record of rescue missions in global crises.

🌍 India’s Past Evacuation Missions

India has stepped up many times before:

Now, Operation Sindhu joins that list. It shows India’s growing commitment to its global citizens.

🔥 Conflict Snapshot: Why Iran and Israel Are Fighting

Iran and Israel have exchanged drone and missile attacks for weeks. This sudden rise in violence has sparked fear across West Asia.

More than 3,000 civilians have faced the fallout. Countries like the U.S. have asked both sides to calm down. Even former President Trump said,

“I hate to see so much death and destruction.”

Indian students found themselves stuck in the middle of this tense situation.

💬 Final Words

Operation Sindhu reflects India’s promise to its citizens—no matter where they are, the nation stands by them.

These students saw war up close. But they also saw rescue. As they hug their families today, one message stands out: India acts when it matters most.
