Padma Shri Dr Padma Gurmet Honoured for Sowa-Rigpa Service

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for AYUSH and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, has congratulated Padma Shri awardee Dr Padma Gurmet, Director of the National Institute of Sowa Rigpa (NISR), Leh, recognising his outstanding contribution to India’s traditional systems of medicine. The honour, conferred as part of the Padma Awards 2026, acknowledges decades of dedicated service towards the preservation and promotion of the ancient Sowa-Rigpa healing tradition.
In his congratulatory message, Shri Jadhav described the Padma Shri as a moment of pride not only for the AYUSH fraternity but also for the nation.
