Pahalgam terror attack: Pakistan Army now violates ceasefire along international borders in J&K

According to the Indian Army, Pakistani troops initiated unprovoked small-arms fire late Tuesday night across the Line of Control (Loc), targeting the Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor sectors. Defence sources later confirmed that the ceasefire breaches have now extended beyond the LoC, with fresh gunfire reported along the International Border in the Paragwal sector of Jammu—a significant escalation in hostilities.

The Indian Army responded “swiftly and proportionately” to the aggression, maintaining readiness while avoiding unnecessary escalation. In response to the continued provocation and recent terror attacks, India has taken a hard stance. Key retaliatory steps include the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty—a key bilateral agreement—and the closure of the Attari Check Post, among other diplomatic and economic measures.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the actions and sent a strong message during a public address in Bihar:
“India will identify, trace, and punish every terrorist and their backers. We will pursue them to the ends of the Earth. Terrorism will never break India’s resolve,” he declared.
