PANKHUDI Portal to Empower Women, Children

RR Team, February 6, 2026February 7, 2026
The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) has launched the PANKHUDI portal, a single-window digital platform aimed at enabling structured, transparent and outcome-oriented participation in women and child development initiatives across India. Designed as a comprehensive digital interface, the portal allows individuals, non-government organisations, corporates and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) to contribute meaningfully to priority social sectors through non-cash support.

PANKHUDI has been developed to bridge the gap between grassroots needs and potential contributors by creating an efficient, accountable and digitally traceable mechanism. Through this platform, institutions working at the ground level under State and Union Territory governments can highlight their specific requirements, while contributors can align their resources with national development goals.

A Single-Window Platform for Social Participation

The PANKHUDI portal offers an end-to-end digital workflow covering registration, proposal submission, approval and tracking of contributions. By limiting participation to non-cash contributions, the platform ensures greater transparency, accountability and targeted impact, while reducing procedural complexities associated with financial transfers.

Contributors can view verified requirements raised by grassroots institutions and choose projects that align with their expertise, capacity and social responsibility goals. This structured approach helps eliminate duplication of efforts and ensures that resources reach areas where they are needed most.

Focus on Priority Development Sectors

PANKHUDI supports key thematic areas central to women and child welfare, including nutrition, health, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), child protection and women’s empowerment. These focus areas directly contribute to improving human development indicators and strengthening social infrastructure at the community level.

The portal aligns contributions with flagship government programmes such as Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0, Mission Vatsalya and Mission Shakti. By doing so, it promotes convergence between government agencies, civil society organisations and private sector partners, enhancing the overall effectiveness of welfare delivery.

Growing Participation and Capacity Building

As of February 3, 2026, a total of 38 contributors have registered on the PANKHUDI portal, marking an encouraging start for the initiative. The Ministry expects participation to expand steadily as awareness increases and more institutions onboard the platform.

To ensure smooth implementation, the Ministry of Women and Child Development has undertaken extensive capacity-building and outreach efforts. These include training and handholding sessions for State and District-level functionaries, virtual meetings with senior State government officials, and integration of a dedicated PANKHUDI module into major training programmes conducted by the Savitri Bai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD).

Strengthening Transparency and Collaboration

By digitising the entire contribution lifecycle, PANKHUDI enhances transparency, enables real-time monitoring and strengthens trust among stakeholders. Contributors can track the status of their proposals, while implementing agencies benefit from faster approvals and better coordination.

The platform represents a significant step toward collaborative governance, where public institutions, private entities and citizens work together to address social challenges in a structured and accountable manner.

Government’s Vision for Inclusive Development

The launch of PANKHUDI reflects the Government of India’s broader vision of leveraging digital tools to deepen citizen participation in nation-building. By creating a unified interface for social contributions, the portal empowers stakeholders to play an active role in improving the lives of women and children across the country.

The details of the initiative were shared by Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Smt. Annpurna Devi, in a written reply in the Lok Sabha, underlining the government’s commitment to transparency, convergence and inclusive development.
