Patna Turns Into a Summer Hotspot for Kids and Families

RR Team, June 1, 2025

Patna, June 1, 2025:

As summer heats up across India, families in Patna are choosing to stay local rather than escape the city — and with good reason. The capital of Bihar is fast becoming a summer paradise for children and families, offering a wide variety of fun-filled and educational activities. From science-themed shows to thrilling outdoor adventures and indoor entertainment, Patna is embracing the summer season like never before.

A Stellar Experience at Patna Planetarium

A major draw this summer is the Indira Gandhi Planetarium, popularly known as the Patna Planetarium. Open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday, the planetarium is a favorite among children with a curiosity for space.

Visitors are treated to 3D shows such as “Voyager” and “Life of Trees”, available in both Hindi and English. These visually stunning shows explain complex space and environmental topics in a fun and engaging way.

Tickets are priced at ₹100 for those aged 15 and above, and ₹60 for children aged 6 to 14, making it an affordable option for family outings.

Eco Park: Nature Meets Fun

Not far from the planetarium, Eco Park (Rajdhani Vatika) provides the perfect outdoor escape. The park’s lush green lawns, swings, water rides, zip lines, Burma Bridge, and evening fountain shows make it a complete entertainment hub.

“There’s skating, boating, Mickey Mouse statues, and even water balls kids can sit inside,” said a staff member at Eco Park. Ticket prices are ₹10 for toddlers (0–3 years) and ₹20 for adults.

Boating costs range from ₹100 to ₹300, skating is ₹50 per day or ₹500 monthly, and adventure rides like zip lines cost ₹100. The park is a hit among both children and their parents, offering physical activity and quality family time.

Gandhi Maidan Park: Old-School Charm

For a simpler, nostalgia-filled experience, families are also heading to the children’s park at Gandhi Maidan. Though smaller and more traditional, it remains a favorite with swings, slides, and large open spaces.

“These parks are a welcome change from mobile screens and help kids interact and move around freely,” said Kiran Singh, a mother enjoying a day out at Eco Park.

Game Zones: Cool Indoor Thrills

With the temperature soaring, air-conditioned game zones in Patna’s malls are becoming go-to spots for families. These areas offer arcade games, virtual reality rides, bumper cars, and prize-based vending games.

“For younger kids, we have ball pools and mini rides. Older kids and adults enjoy VR games and arcade challenges,” said a staff member at a popular mall’s game zone.

Families can start with a minimum recharge of ₹500, valid for a year, and bonus credits are being offered during summer holidays.

Splash into Summer: Swimming Pools in Demand

When the heat becomes too much, swimming pools around the city provide the ultimate escape. Many private clubs, hotels, and public pools are hosting summer classes and free swim sessions.

“We offer swimming lessons for non-members at ₹2,500 per month or ₹150 per day,” said the manager of New Patna Club. Separate swim timings for men and women are also available, ensuring a comfortable experience for all.
