PDUNASS Launches EPFO Training on Legal Management & IBC

New Delhi, 20 January 2026: The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security (PDUNASS) commenced a five-day training programme on Legal Management & Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC), 2016 for officers of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). Scheduled from 19th to 23rd January 2026, the programme aims to strengthen the legal and institutional capacity of EPFO officers in addressing insolvency-related matters and statutory challenges under the IBC framework.

Inaugural Session and Key Addresses

The inaugural session featured prominent dignitaries including Shri Kumar Rohit, Director, PDUNASS; Shri Rajesh Tiwari, General Manager, Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India (IBBI); Shri Rizwan Uddin, Chief Learning Officer, PDUNASS; and Shri Sanjay Kumar Rai, RPFC-I and Course Director.

Shri Kumar Rohit highlighted that the IBC, 2016 has transformed India’s legal and economic landscape, and emphasised that EPFO officers must remain updated on evolving insolvency jurisprudence to protect workers’ social security interests. He also noted the participation of officers across ranks including RPFC-I, RPFC-II, and APFC, both experienced and newly inducted recruits.

Programme Structure and Learning Objectives

Shri Rizwan Uddin detailed the academic structure, while Shri Sanjay Kumar Rai elaborated on the course design. The programme features expert sessions from IBBI officials, resolution professionals, EPFO standing counsels, former NCLT/NCLAT members, and academics from National Law Universities.

Sessions cover topics including legal management within EPFO, handling IBC-related cases, recovery of provident fund dues, and recent judicial pronouncements impacting insolvency proceedings. The training combines practical insights and comprehensive theoretical understanding to ensure officers are fully equipped to handle complex insolvency scenarios.

Importance of Capacity Building

Shri Rajesh Tiwari, GM, IBBI, emphasised coordinated action among statutory authorities to achieve effective resolution outcomes under the IBC. The initiative underscores PDUNASS’s commitment to enhancing legal preparedness, ensuring EPFO officers can safeguard workers’ benefits while navigating evolving insolvency frameworks.

The programme strengthens procedural consistency, institutional alignment, and equips officers with the skills necessary for effective representation before adjudicating authorities under the IBC regime.
