The ongoing campaign emphasizes institutionalizing Swachhata (cleanliness), minimizing pending files and grievances, and implementing responsible waste management practices, including the disposal of e-waste. According to a statement from the Department, over 50% of the preparatory phase targets have already been met.
Key Achievements So Far
The Department’s mid-term report highlights several measurable outcomes:
- 5321 out of 11,143 cleaning sites (both internal and external) covered.
- 9 out of 19 best practices successfully implemented or rolled out.
- 12,631 physical files reviewed with 4,900 files weeded out for better record management.
- Over 3,000 kilograms of e-waste identified for safe disposal.
- Revenue generation of ₹31,286 achieved through material recovery and reuse.
- 19,225 sq. ft. of office space reclaimed by removing redundant materials and optimizing layouts.
Officials noted that these outcomes represent more than half of the department’s targets, as defined during the preparatory phase between 15th and 30th September 2025. The campaign is on track to achieve full compliance by the end of October.
Focus on Sustainability and Good Governance
Beyond clearing backlogs and physical waste, SCDPM 5.0 aims to establish long-term systems for better office hygiene and digital efficiency. By integrating paperless processing and improved grievance redressal mechanisms, the initiative promotes sustainable administrative practices.
The Department has also encouraged all its organizations, including public sector undertakings, to take part in the campaign. A notable example is Karnataka Antibiotics and Pharmaceuticals Limited (KAPL), Peenya, Bengaluru, which has successfully implemented cleanliness drives and showcased visible transformation through “Before-After” initiatives.
Part of a Larger Government Effort
The SCDPM 5.0 is part of the Government of India’s broader effort to enhance public service delivery and strengthen accountability across ministries. The campaign supports the Prime Minister’s vision of a “Clean India, Efficient India,” aligning with the Swachh Bharat Mission and Digital India initiatives.
