Piyush Goyal Boosts Global Trade at CII Summit

RR Team, November 15, 2025November 16, 2025
Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal held extensive discussions with global leaders and business delegations at the 30th CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam on 14 November 2025. His engagements focused on strengthening trade, boosting investment flows and reinforcing India’s role as a trusted global economic partner.

Addressing the summit, Shri Goyal outlined three essential pillars designed to deepen global partnerships: facilitating two-way investments, expanding technological cooperation and building mutual trust through transparent governance. These pillars, he said, would accelerate sustainable economic growth and support long-term global collaboration.

Goyal’s Three Pillars for Global Partnerships

The Minister emphasised that the first pillar aims to reduce trade barriers and enable smoother movement of goods, services and capital. This, he noted, is essential for boosting bilateral and multilateral investments.

The second pillar focuses on technological collaboration, including co-development of frontier technologies and investment in high-impact innovation. Shri Goyal highlighted that India is committed to partnering with countries across emerging sectors such as AI, renewable energy and advanced manufacturing.

The third pillar centres on trust-building through predictable policy frameworks. The Minister reiterated that India supports a stable, transparent environment that encourages long-term economic partnerships. He also reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam  the world is one family as the foundation of India’s approach to global cooperation.

High-Level Bilateral Engagements

On the sidelines of the summit, Shri Goyal met delegations from Africa, Europe, Latin America and Asia. His conversations covered trade facilitation, sectoral cooperation and strategic economic ties with partner nations. He also met heads of international organisations, including the WTO.

Engagement with WTO Director-General

During his meeting with the WTO Director-General, Shri Goyal reaffirmed India’s commitment to a rules-based multilateral trading system. He stressed the need for a permanent solution on Public Stock Holding for food security and called for restoring a fully functional dispute settlement mechanism. Both sides agreed to maintain close dialogue ahead of MC14.

Talks with Armenia

The Armenian delegation expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the Gems and Jewellery sector. Shri Goyal proposed a Joint Working Group at the Joint Secretary level to identify opportunities in 2026. Both sides discussed boosting trade in pharmaceuticals and renewable energy, while India raised concerns over Non-Tariff Barriers affecting pesticide exporters.

Meeting with Mauritius

Discussions with Mauritius focused on strengthening trade and exploring G2G procurement of essential goods. Mauritius showed interest in importing rice and milk powder, while India expressed interest in boosting service exports, including IT and tourism. India also offered support in digital public infrastructure.

Strengthening Ties with Angola and Mozambique

In talks with Angola, cooperation in agriculture, food processing, irrigation and the natural diamond industry was discussed. Mozambique expressed interest in logistics development, resilient supply chains and agricultural exports. Both sides agreed to explore a G2G supply chain for rice.

Diversifying Trade with Venezuela

In his meeting with the Venezuelan delegation, discussions focused on diversifying trade beyond oil and gas. The two sides explored opportunities in pharmaceuticals, critical minerals and potential investments by Indian companies.

CII Partnership Summit 2025: A Global Platform

The two-day summit, organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry in partnership with the Government of India and the Government of Andhra Pradesh, brought together global policymakers, business leaders and investors. The event served as a platform to discuss future opportunities in global trade, supply chains and economic partnerships.
