PM congratulates India’s Women’s Kabaddi Team World Cup 2025

RR Team, November 25, 2025November 24, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated India’s women’s Kabaddi team after their victory in the Kabaddi World Cup 2025, praising the players’ grit, skill and dedication and saying their win will inspire countless youngsters across the country.

PM’s message and national reaction

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X to felicitate the squad, writing: “Congratulations to our Indian Women’s Kabaddi Team for making the nation proud by winning the Kabaddi World Cup 2025! They have showcased outstanding grit, skills and dedication. Their victory will inspire countless youngsters to pursue Kabaddi, dream bigger and aim higher.” The message was published via the Press Information Bureau.

Social media and sports pages swiftly echoed the Prime Minister’s message, while state governments and sports bodies offered additional congratulations and promised formal felicitation events for the champions.

How India won the title

India clinched the Kabaddi World Cup 2025 title after a strong showing throughout the competition and a convincing performance in the final. Reports from the tournament note India defeated Chinese Taipei 35–28 in the final, showcasing tactical discipline and high-intensity raids and tackles. The win marks India’s continued dominance in women’s kabaddi on the global stage.

Significance for women’s sport

Observers said the victory is an important milestone for women’s sport in India. Success at marquee events like the Kabaddi World Cup delivers visibility and helps strengthen the pipeline for young players, encouraging grassroots participation and investment in coaching, academies and domestic leagues. Sporting bodies have urged sustained support to convert this momentum into long-term development.

Official follow-up and possible incentives

Following the Prime Minister’s post, media reports indicate state governments often announce cash awards, jobs or other incentives for World Cup-winning athletes. Sports ministry and federation officials typically coordinate to ensure timely recognition; specifics for individual players are usually confirmed after formal felicitation ceremonies.

Voices from the tournament

Players and coaches credited disciplined preparation, fitness regimes, and improved domestic competition for the team’s success. Young athletes from across the country  especially from kabaddi heartlands took to social platforms to celebrate the win and pledge continued efforts to strengthen grassroots pathways. Tournament coverage highlighted standout performers who played key roles in India’s campaign.

What this means going forward

Sports administrators say the immediate focus will be on rest, recovery and planning for upcoming international assignments. Longer term, stakeholders have emphasised investment in coaching, nutrition, sports science and scouting to ensure India remains competitive across age groups and events. The World Cup triumph is likely to bolster fundraising, sponsorship and media interest in women’s kabaddi.
