Virudhnagar, Tamil Nadu – PM MITRA Park, a flagship initiative under the PM MITRA Scheme, has allocated 190.44 acres of industrial land to 23 investors, unlocking nearly ₹2,192.21 crore in committed investments. The move is projected to generate 15,000 direct jobs and strengthen the integrated textile value chain in the region.

The Board of Directors of PM MITRA Park Tamil Nadu approved the allotments during its 9th meeting on 27 February 2026, chaired by Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles. Senior officials from the Ministry of Textiles, Tamil Nadu Industries Department, SIPCOT, and NICDC attended, reflecting strong government oversight and industry engagement.

Investor Confidence and Integrated Textile Ecosystem

The Board noted that strong investor interest demonstrates confidence in the Park’s governance, design, and long-term competitiveness. The Virudhnagar PM MITRA Park aims to establish a complete yarn-to-garment production ecosystem in a region already renowned for textile manufacturing and exports.

The approved projects span integrated plants, yarn manufacturing, fabric production, processing and finishing, garment manufacturing, and technical textiles. The development also includes a 20 MLD Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) facility to support sustainable textile processing, catering to both small and medium-scale units.

Park Infrastructure and Strategic Location

PM MITRA Park Virudhnagar is one of seven mega parks under the PM MITRA scheme. The project, costing approximately ₹1,894 crore, features a 15 MLD Common Effluent Treatment Plant with ZLD, a 20 MW solar power plant, centralized steam boilers, and nearly 13 lakh sq. ft. of ready-to-move plug-and-play units.

Strategically located along NH 44 and 106 km from Tuticorin Port, the Park offers robust connectivity and logistics advantages. Nearly ₹550 crore worth of infrastructure work is currently underway, with a targeted completion by December 2027, ensuring a fully operational and eco-friendly textile hub.

Advancing India’s Textile Competitiveness

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to transparent, policy-aligned, and ecosystem-driven development. By enabling large-scale, integrated textile production and sustainable operations, PM MITRA Park aims to enhance India’s domestic and global competitiveness in the textile sector.

With modern infrastructure, sustainable processing facilities, and plug-and-play units, the Park is set to become a benchmark for industrial development and a catalyst for employment generation in Tamil Nadu.
