PM Modi Condoles Demise of Former Kenyan PM Raila Odinga 

New Delhi, October 16, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the demise of former Prime Minister of Kenya, Raila Odinga. In a statement released by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Shri Modi remembered Mr. Odinga as a towering statesman and a cherished friend of India.
PM Modi recalled his long-standing association with Mr. Odinga, which began during his tenure as Chief Minister of Gujarat. “I had the privilege of knowing him closely since my days as Chief Minister, and our association continued over the years,” the Prime Minister stated.Highlighting Mr. Odinga’s admiration for India, Modi noted, “He had a special affection for India, our culture, values and ancient wisdom. This was reflected in his efforts to strengthen India-Kenya ties.” The late leader particularly appreciated Ayurveda and traditional Indian medicine, having witnessed its positive impact on his daughter’s health.

Strengthening India-Kenya Relations

PM Modi’s tribute underscored Raila Odinga’s role in deepening bilateral relations. The former Kenyan Prime Minister consistently promoted cultural, economic, and diplomatic ties between India and Kenya.
