PM Modi Condoles Passing of R. Nallakannu

RR Team, February 25, 2026February 26, 2026

New Delhi, February 25, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran leader Thiru R. Nallakannu, remembering him as a tireless champion of the underprivileged, workers, and farmers. The Prime Minister highlighted Nallakannu’s grassroots connect and simplicity, noting that his contributions would be remembered for years to come.

Prime Minister’s Tribute

In a message shared on social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi paid homage to the senior leader’s lifelong dedication to public service. He described Thiru R. Nallakannu as a figure deeply connected with the grassroots and committed to amplifying the voices of those often unheard.

The Prime Minister said Nallakannu worked tirelessly for workers and farmers, ensuring that their concerns found space in public discourse. He added that Nallakannu was respected across sections of society for both his integrity and unwavering simplicity.

“Thiru R. Nallakannu will be remembered for his grassroots connect and efforts to give voice to the underprivileged, workers and farmers. He was widely respected by people from every section of society. Equally noteworthy was his simplicity. My thoughts are with his family and admirers,” the Prime Minister wrote.

A Life Rooted in Service

R. Nallakannu was known for his deep engagement with rural communities and labour groups. Over decades, he built a reputation as a steadfast advocate for equitable development and social justice. His political and social journey reflected an enduring commitment to public welfare rather than personal gain.

Leaders across party lines have acknowledged his unwavering dedication to grassroots activism. His simplicity in lifestyle and approach earned him admiration not just among supporters but also among political opponents.

Observers say that Nallakannu’s legacy lies in his ability to stay connected to ordinary citizens, particularly farmers and workers, at a time when political discourse often shifts away from ground realities.

Respect Across Society

The Prime Minister noted that the late leader commanded respect from every section of society. This rare consensus, political analysts suggest, stemmed from Nallakannu’s consistent advocacy for inclusive growth and his reputation for personal integrity.

His ability to bridge ideological divides and focus on people-centric issues made him a distinctive presence in public life. Even those who disagreed with his political positions often acknowledged his sincerity and dedication.

The Prime Minister’s condolence message reflects the broader national sentiment mourning the loss of a leader who remained grounded throughout his long public career.

Nation Pays Tribute

Condolences have poured in from various quarters following the announcement of his passing. Political leaders, social activists, and members of civil society have remembered him as a guiding force for grassroots movements.

As the nation reflects on his contributions, many recall his efforts to ensure that policy debates included the perspectives of farmers, labourers, and marginalized communities. His legacy is expected to continue inspiring those committed to public service and social equity.
