PM Modi Distributes 61,000 Appointment Letters at Rozgar Mela

RR Team, January 24, 2026January 24, 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed thousands of newly recruited youth during the Rozgar Mela while distributing over 61,000 appointment letters across the country. Describing government service as an “invitation letter for nation-building,” the Prime Minister said the youth would play a decisive role in shaping a developed India by 2047.

Speaking at the event, held simultaneously at more than 40 locations nationwide, the Prime Minister linked the occasion with the spirit of the Constitution and the ongoing Republic Day celebrations. He said the beginning of 2026 marked a new phase of responsibility and opportunity for young Indians entering public service.

Appointments Linked to Constitutional Values

PM Modi highlighted the symbolic significance of the day, noting that India had adopted “Jana Gana Mana” as the National Anthem and “Vande Mataram” as the National Song on January 24. He said the convergence of Parakram Diwas, National Voters’ Day, and Republic Day reflected the deep connection between youth, democracy, and constitutional duties.

Calling the appointment letters a pledge towards Viksit Bharat, the Prime Minister said the newly inducted youth would contribute to national security, education, healthcare, financial services, energy security, and the growth of public sector enterprises.

Rozgar Mela Becomes a National Mission

The Prime Minister said connecting youth with skills, employment, and self-employment opportunities has remained a top priority of his government. To ensure transparency and speed in recruitment, the Rozgar Mela was launched as a mission-mode initiative.

Over the past few years, lakhs of young Indians have received government appointment letters through Rozgar Melas. PM Modi said the initiative had now evolved into a sustained institutional mechanism to provide timely employment opportunities.

India’s Youth at the Center of Growth

Describing India as one of the youngest nations in the world, the Prime Minister said sustained efforts are being made to create employment opportunities both domestically and globally. Trade and mobility agreements signed with various countries are opening new avenues for Indian youth.

He also pointed to large-scale investments in infrastructure, which have generated employment across construction-linked sectors. India’s start-up ecosystem, with nearly two lakh registered start-ups employing over 21 lakh youth, was cited as a major driver of innovation and jobs.

Manufacturing, FDI and Rising Employment

PM Modi said India is rapidly emerging as a global manufacturing hub, particularly in electronics, pharmaceuticals, defence, automobiles, and vaccines. Electronics manufacturing has increased six-fold since 2014, becoming an industry worth over ₹11 lakh crore.

He noted that foreign direct investment has more than doubled over the last decade, with over 100 countries investing in India. According to the Prime Minister, increased FDI directly translates into more employment opportunities for the country’s youth.

Women’s Participation and Reform Agenda

The Prime Minister highlighted that over 8,000 women were among the appointees, reflecting rising female participation in the workforce. He said women have benefited significantly from schemes such as Mudra, Start-up India, and self-help group initiatives.

PM Modi also spoke about ongoing economic and labour reforms aimed at improving ease of living and ease of doing business. He urged new recruits to act as agents of change at the grassroots level by ensuring citizen-centric governance.

‘Nagrik Devo Bhava’ as Governance Mantra

Calling public service a sacred responsibility, the Prime Minister reminded government employees that they are servants of citizens. He emphasised the mantra “Nagrik Devo Bhava,” urging officials to treat every citizen with dignity and sensitivity.

Encouraging continuous learning, he advised employees to upgrade skills through platforms like iGOT Karmayogi, which has already onboarded over 1.5 crore government employees.

Building Viksit Bharat 2047

Concluding his address, PM Modi said the new generation of government employees would be instrumental in building a developed India by the centenary of Independence. He congratulated all appointees and wished them success in their new responsibilities.
