The meeting, held at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel, was part of PM Modi’s three-day U.S. visit, which included a session hosted by the MIT School of Engineering.
The gathering brought together leaders from cutting-edge industries like AI, quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology. Notable participants included Sundar Pichai (Google), Jensen Huang (Nvidia), and Shantanu Narayen (Adobe). In a post on X (formerly Twitter), PM Modi expressed his satisfaction, stating he had a productive roundtable with tech CEOs in New York, discussing technology, innovation, and India’s progress in these fields. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the discussion centered on advanced sectors like Artificial Intelligence, biotechnology, and semiconductor technologies. The Prime Minister engaged the CEOs in an in-depth discussion about how these innovations are shaping the global landscape and contributing to human development, including in India.
PM Modi reiterated India’s approach to Artificial Intelligence, emphasizing the nation’s AI for All initiative, which promotes ethical and responsible AI usage. He also reassured business leaders of India’s commitment to protecting intellectual property and fostering an innovation-friendly environment. The Prime Minister encouraged the CEOs to take advantage of India’s potential as it becomes the world’s third-largest economy.
The roundtable explored opportunities for U.S. companies to invest in India’s rapidly growing startup ecosystem. With technological innovations booming, startups were highlighted as vital bridges for American firms to tap into the Indian market and contribute to global solutions.
MIT Professor Anantha Chandrakasan, who chaired the session, praised the collaboration between India and the U.S. He expressed MIT’s continued dedication to leveraging technology for the greater good and enhancing ties between the two nations in critical tech areas.
