On the joyous occasion of regional New Year celebrations across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his heartfelt wishes to citizens observing Odia New Year, Vishu, Puthandu, and Bohag Bihu. Acknowledging the rich cultural diversity of India, the Prime Minister took to social media platform X to individually greet communities celebrating these vibrant festivals that mark the arrival of the new year in different parts of the country.
“Best wishes on the Odia New Year!” he posted, recognizing the beginning of a fresh year in Odisha that is traditionally welcomed with prayers, rituals, and local delicacies.
Sharing in the joy of the people of Kerala, he said, “Happy Vishu!”—a festival that brings families together to witness the auspicious ‘Vishukkani’ and exchange gifts and blessings.
To those celebrating the Tamil New Year, the Prime Minister wrote, “Puthandu greetings to everyone!”—a time of renewal and hope, when homes are decorated with kolams and families come together in harmony.
He also extended his good wishes for Bohag Bihu, the Assamese New Year, stating, “Bohag Bihu wishes to you all!”—a festival filled with music, dance, and heartfelt celebrations of nature’s bounty.
