PM Modi Extends Mahashivratri Greetings to Nation

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Saturday extended heartfelt greetings to citizens across the country on the sacred occasion of Mahashivratri, invoking the blessings of Adidev Mahadev for the well-being and prosperity of the nation.
In his message shared on social media platform X, the Prime Minister wished that Lord Shiva’s divine grace always remain upon the people of India. He expressed hope that under the blessings of Mahadev, every citizen would be blessed with health, happiness and harmony.

Prayer for National Prosperity

Highlighting the spiritual significance of the festival, the Prime Minister prayed for the collective progress of Bharatvarsh. He conveyed his aspiration that India continue its journey towards greater prosperity and global stature, guided by the blessings of Lord Shiva.

In his Hindi message, he addressed citizens as members of his extended family and offered “ढेरों शुभकामनाएं” on Mahashivratri. He prayed that Mahadev’s grace lead to universal welfare and that India rise to the pinnacle of development and success.

Concluding his message with the chant “Har Har Mahadev,” the Prime Minister echoed the devotional spirit that resonates across the country during the festival.

Mahashivratri: A Festival of Faith

Mahashivratri, one of the most revered Hindu festivals, is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is observed with immense devotion throughout India. Devotees undertake fasting, night-long vigils and special prayers at Shiva temples.

The festival symbolizes spiritual awakening, inner reflection and the triumph of light over darkness. Temples across states witness large gatherings of devotees offering milk, water and bilva leaves to the Shiva Lingam.

According to information shared by the Press Information Bureau (PIB), the Prime Minister’s message was released on the morning of February 15, 2026.

Nationwide Celebrations

Across cities and villages, from ancient Jyotirlinga shrines to local temples, Mahashivratri is marked with devotional songs, processions and community prayers. Several state governments also organize cultural programs and facilitate arrangements for devotees.

The festival holds deep spiritual and cultural relevance, reinforcing values of devotion, discipline and unity. Religious leaders and public representatives joined the Prime Minister in extending greetings to the nation.
