PM Modi Highlights Farmers Importance Through Sanskrit Subhashitam

RR Team, December 23, 2025December 23, 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a timeless Sanskrit Subhashitam on social media today, highlighting the crucial role of farmers in society. The verse states:

“सुवर्ण-रौप्य-माणिक्य-वसनैरपि पूरिताः। तथापि प्रार्थयन्त्येव कृषकान् भक्ततृष्णया।।” It emphasizes that even when individuals possess gold, silver, rubies, and luxurious garments, they still depend on farmers for sustenance and food.

Through this message, the Prime Minister underlined the indispensable contribution of farmers in ensuring food security and sustaining livelihoods across the country. His post on X reads:
“सुवर्ण-रौप्य-माणिक्य-वसनैरपि पूरिताः। तथापि प्रार्थयन्त्येव कृषकान् भक्ततृष्णया।।”

Recognizing Farmers’ Role in National Prosperity

The Subhashitam reinforces a timeless truth: wealth and material possessions alone cannot sustain society without the tireless efforts of those who cultivate the land. Prime Minister Modi’s message serves as a reminder of the respect, gratitude, and attention that farmers deserve from the nation.

India, being an agrarian society, continues to depend on its farmers not just for food, but also for the overall stability and development of the economy. Initiatives by the government aim to support farmers with better infrastructure, technological tools, and sustainable farming practices, aligning with the vision of a self-reliant India.

Promoting Awareness Through Social Media

By sharing the Subhashitam on X, the Prime Minister engages citizens and draws attention to the cultural and philosophical values that highlight farmers’ contributions. Such posts encourage dialogue on the importance of agriculture and remind society to honor those whose labor nourishes the nation.

Experts note that integrating traditional wisdom with modern governance can inspire both policymakers and citizens to recognize and support the backbone of India’s economy: its farmers.

Cultural Significance of Sanskrit Wisdom

Sanskrit Subhashitas have historically conveyed ethical and practical guidance. In this instance, the verse highlights gratitude, humility, and recognition of those who sustain life. By referencing such wisdom, the Prime Minister connects India’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary appreciation for agriculture and farmers.
