PM Modi Highlights India’s Growth at ET GBS 2026

RR Team, February 14, 2026February 14, 2026
New Delhi: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on Friday shared key highlights from the ET Now Global Business Summit 2026, underlining India’s rise as a resilient and reform-driven economy in a decade marked by global disruptions. Addressing industry leaders and policymakers in the national capital, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that India is set to become a leading driver of global growth.
The summit, themed “A Decade of Disruption, A Century of Change,” focused on the rapid transformations shaping the global economy. The Prime Minister noted that the past ten years have witnessed unprecedented events, including the global pandemic, geopolitical tensions, wars in various regions, and supply chain disruptions that unsettled the world economy.

India’s Decade of Development

Despite global challenges, Shri Modi asserted that India’s journey over the past decade has been defined by decisive governance, efficient delivery, and democratic strengthening. In a series of posts on X, he stated that amid disruptions, India achieved unprecedented development while reinforcing democratic institutions.

He highlighted that crises test the true strength of nations. According to him, India not only navigated turbulent global conditions but emerged stronger by focusing on reforms, innovation, and inclusive growth.

The Prime Minister said that this decade represents a turning point, positioning India as a reliable and dynamic economy ready to lead the next phase of global expansion.

Riding the ‘Reform Express’

Describing India as riding the “Reform Express,” Shri Modi emphasized that policy reforms have remained central to the government’s agenda. He pointed to structural changes aimed at improving ease of doing business, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting digital transformation.

Over the years, reforms in taxation, financial inclusion, digital governance, and manufacturing have strengthened India’s economic framework. These initiatives, he noted, have improved transparency and boosted investor confidence.

From Outlay to Outcome-Centric Budgeting

The Prime Minister also underscored the shift in budgetary planning. He said the government has moved beyond focusing merely on financial outlays and is now prioritising measurable outcomes. This outcome-centric approach ensures that public spending translates into tangible benefits for citizens.

He stressed that accountability and performance-based governance are key pillars of India’s development strategy. According to him, efficient implementation has enhanced the impact of welfare schemes and infrastructure investments alike.

Technology and Innovation at the Core

Highlighting technology and innovation as central growth drivers, Shri Modi said India has placed digital transformation at the heart of its development model. Over the past decade, digital public infrastructure has expanded significantly, enabling financial inclusion, transparent service delivery, and entrepreneurial growth.

He remarked that technology is not merely a tool but a foundation for economic empowerment. By fostering innovation ecosystems, India is preparing to compete confidently on the global stage.

India as a Global Trade Partner

The Prime Minister also pointed to India’s expanding engagement in global trade. He stated that today’s India is confident, competitive, and ready to enter into trade agreements with major economies. This proactive trade policy reflects the country’s ambition to integrate more deeply into global supply chains.

He affirmed that India will act as a new engine of growth for the world economy. With its demographic dividend, digital infrastructure, and reform momentum, the country is well-positioned to drive global recovery and long-term expansion.

The ET Now Global Business Summit 2026 served as a platform for dialogue between government, industry, and global stakeholders. The Prime Minister’s remarks reinforced India’s vision of resilience, reform, and responsible leadership in an era defined by disruption and transformation.

As the world navigates uncertainty, Shri Modi’s message was clear: India stands ready not just to withstand change, but to shape the century ahead.
