PM Modi Highlights Tripura’s Growth Through ‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’

RR Team, February 3, 2026February 3, 2026
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday highlighted Tripura’s accelerating development journey, stating that the state has gained remarkable momentum by embracing the guiding principle of ‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’ development alongside preservation of heritage. Sharing his views on social media, the Prime Minister said the northeastern state is witnessing steady progress across sectors while proudly safeguarding its rich cultural identity.

The Prime Minister was responding to a post by Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region and Communications, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, who recently visited Tripura and shared his observations on the state’s transformation and emerging opportunities.

PM Applauds Tripura’s Development Momentum

In his post on X, Prime Minister Modi said that Tripura has adopted the mantra of balanced progress, enabling the state to move forward at a rapid pace while recording new achievements each day. He noted that the integration of modern development with cultural pride has become the defining feature of Tripura’s growth story.

Referring to Union Minister Scindia’s article, the Prime Minister encouraged citizens to read about the state’s changing landscape and vast potential. He said the article provides a comprehensive account of Tripura’s journey toward becoming a hub of opportunity in the northeastern region.

Changing Face of Tripura

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, during his visit, highlighted how Tripura is advancing on multiple fronts, including infrastructure, connectivity, and industrial development. He observed that improved roads, enhanced digital connectivity, and focused policy interventions are strengthening the state’s economic foundations.

At the same time, he noted that Tripura continues to celebrate and preserve its distinct cultural heritage, traditional art forms, and indigenous identity. This harmonious blend of growth and tradition, he said, is helping the state carve a unique development path.

‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’ as a Development Model

The philosophy of ‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’ has been a central theme of the Prime Minister’s vision for national development. In the context of Tripura, this approach has translated into modern infrastructure projects that coexist with efforts to protect historical sites, local customs, and traditional livelihoods.

By promoting economic growth without eroding cultural roots, the model aims to ensure inclusive and sustainable development. Leaders have repeatedly emphasized that preserving heritage strengthens social cohesion while contributing to tourism and local employment.

Infrastructure and Industrial Growth

Tripura’s progress in infrastructure has been marked by improved transportation networks, enhanced power supply, and growing digital penetration. These developments are creating a favorable environment for industrial investment and entrepreneurship, particularly in small and medium enterprises.

The state’s strategic location in the Northeast has also positioned it as a potential gateway for regional trade and connectivity, aligning with the broader vision of integrating the northeastern states into the national economic mainstream.

Cultural Heritage as a Strength

Alongside physical infrastructure, significant attention has been given to preserving Tripura’s cultural heritage. Traditional festivals, indigenous crafts, and local art forms continue to receive institutional support, reinforcing the cultural confidence of local communities.

This emphasis on heritage preservation not only safeguards identity but also contributes to cultural tourism, creating livelihood opportunities for artisans and local entrepreneurs.

Tripura’s Emerging Potential

Observers note that Tripura’s balanced development strategy is gradually transforming the state into a region of promise. Improved governance, targeted welfare measures, and a focus on sustainable growth are helping unlock its untapped potential.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that Tripura’s continued adherence to the principle of ‘Vikas bhi, Virasat bhi’ will enable it to achieve long-term prosperity while remaining deeply rooted in its cultural values.
