PM Modi Inaugurates First Phase-IV Section of Delhi Metro; Addresses Rally in Rohini

RR Team, January 5, 2025January 5, 2025

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Janakpuri West-Krishna Park Extension section of the Delhi Metro’s Phase IV on Sunday and laid the foundation stone for the Rithala-Narela-Kundli corridor. Addressing a rally in Rohini afterward, he criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, calling it a “disaster” for Delhi, and urged voters to give the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a chance to bring development.

Metro Expansion: A Milestone

The newly inaugurated section is the first stretch of Phase IV of the Delhi Metro, extending the operational Magenta Line from Botanical Garden to Janakpuri West. With the addition of Krishna Park Extension station, the Delhi Metro network now comprises 289 stations covering 394.4 km.

This stretch is part of the larger plan to extend the Magenta Line to RK Ashram Marg by 2026. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is constructing 86 km of new lines across five corridors under Phase IV, with three corridors currently under construction and two in pre-tendering stages.

The PM also laid the foundation for the 26.5-km Rithala-Kundli corridor, which will include 21 stations and connect residential and industrial hubs in Rohini, Bawana, and Kundli. Officials estimate that the project will significantly enhance connectivity between Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.

AAP Government Criticized as a “Disaster”

During his rally, PM Modi lashed out at the AAP government, accusing it of wasting a decade in conflicts with the Centre. “Delhiites have endured 10 years of misgovernance, corruption, and neglect. Only by removing this ‘aapda’ (disaster) can we bring double-engine growth to Delhi,” he declared.

Modi assured the public that no welfare schemes would be discontinued if the BJP came to power, emphasizing that the focus would be on eliminating corruption and ensuring effective implementation of central initiatives.

Vision for Delhi’s Future

The Prime Minister highlighted the Centre’s contributions, including expanding the Metro network, developing highways, and introducing the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System. However, he noted the contrast between these developments and the poor condition of Delhi’s basic infrastructure, such as pothole-ridden roads and waterlogging issues.

“In the next 25 years, India will emerge as a developed nation, and Delhi must play a central role in this journey. We need a government that can align with this vision and transform Delhi into a city of the future,” he said.

Rally Highlights

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from BJP supporters, with Modi’s promise of “freeing Delhi from disaster” resonating with the crowd. He also assured that the BJP would prioritize clean governance and inclusive development if elected in the upcoming assembly elections.

Delhi’s political landscape is gearing up for a heated contest, with the BJP aiming to unseat the AAP and establish its governance in the capital. The assembly elections are expected to be a significant turning point in shaping Delhi’s development trajectory.
