PM Modi Inaugurates Modern MP Housing Complex in Delhi

RR Team, August 11, 2025August 11, 2025

PM Modi Unveils 184 Modern MP Flats in New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate 184 newly constructed Type-VII multi-storey flats for Members of Parliament (MPs) at Baba Kharak Singh (BKS) Marg, New Delhi, on Monday, 11 August 2025.
The new housing complex represents a modern, sustainable, and inclusive approach to urban development for India’s lawmakers.

A Ceremony of National Significance

The event will be graced by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Minister of Housing & Urban Affairs and Power Manohar Lal, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju, and House Committee (Lok Sabha) Chairperson Dr. Mahesh Sharma.
Several MPs and dignitaries will also attend.

As part of the inauguration, the Prime Minister will plant a Sindoor sapling at the premises.
He will also interact with shramjeevis—the workers who contributed to the construction of this landmark project.

Designed for Functionality and Comfort

Each residential unit offers spacious layouts designed to accommodate both personal living spaces and official functions.
Dedicated areas for offices, staff accommodation, and a community centre are built to meet the professional needs of MPs.

The design prioritizes self-sufficiency.
From advanced facilities to smart space utilization, the project aims to give MPs the convenience they require in the heart of Delhi.

Green and Sustainable Architecture

This housing complex is not just modern—it’s environmentally responsible.
It meets the GRIHA 3-star rating and adheres to the National Building Code (NBC) 2016.

The features include:

  • Energy conservation systems

  • Renewable energy integration

  • Efficient waste management

  • Green landscaping

The monolithic concrete construction with aluminium shuttering has ensured structural durability and timely completion.
This also helps reduce maintenance costs over time.

Inclusive and Accessible Design

The project is Divyangjan-friendly, ensuring accessibility for all residents and visitors.
Wide corridors, ramps, and specialized amenities cater to people with different mobility needs.

This inclusive approach reflects the government’s commitment to accessibility and universal design in public infrastructure.

Safety Comes First

All the buildings are earthquake-resistant and comply with modern structural design norms.
The complex is equipped with a comprehensive security system, ensuring residents’ safety around the clock.

From controlled entry points to surveillance systems, the project maintains a high standard of safety infrastructure.

Optimizing Land Use in Delhi

Delhi faces land scarcity, especially in central locations near Parliament.
This project addresses the shortage of adequate housing for MPs by embracing vertical construction.

By building upwards rather than outwards, the project maximizes space utilization while staying close to Parliament House.
This reduces commuting time for MPs and enhances their ability to serve the public effectively.

A Step Forward in Urban Development

The BKS Marg MP Housing Project is more than just a construction initiative—it’s a statement of India’s evolving urban policy.
It blends modern amenities, environmental consciousness, and inclusivity in one development.

The Union Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs played a key role in implementing this vision.
It showcases how public infrastructure can be both functional and future-ready.

Key Highlights of the BKS MP Housing Complex

  • 184 Type-VII multi-storey flats for MPs

  • Located at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, near Parliament House

  • GRIHA 3-star certified sustainable design

  • Divyangjan-friendly infrastructure

  • Earthquake-resistant construction

  • Advanced security systems

  • Dedicated official and residential areas

  • Community centre and staff quarters

  • Efficient waste and energy management systems

Why This Project Matters

Housing for MPs is not just about convenience.
It’s about enabling them to perform their duties without logistical challenges.

By providing well-planned, centrally located residences, the government ensures that MPs can focus on legislation, public service, and policy work without the distraction of inadequate housing.

Moreover, the eco-friendly features align with India’s commitment to sustainable urban development.

Looking Ahead

The inauguration of the BKS Marg MP Flats sets a benchmark for future government housing projects.
It shows how design, sustainability, safety, and inclusivity can come together in one project.

This initiative could inspire similar developments across India, especially in cities facing space and housing shortages.
