Women at the Center of Development
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi highlighted the significance of the scheme for women in Bihar, noting that financial independence boosts respect and opportunities for daughters, sisters, and mothers. He recalled the foundational role of schemes such as Jan Dhan Yojana in enabling direct benefit transfers, ensuring that funds reach beneficiaries without leakage.

Self-Employment and Entrepreneurship Opportunities

The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana provides each family’s woman beneficiary with an initial ₹10,000, with potential support of up to ₹2 lakh based on the success of the enterprise. Women can now venture into grocery, cosmetics, stationery, livestock, and poultry businesses, supported by training and community-driven assistance through self-help groups.
PM Modi emphasized that Bihar already has nearly 11 lakh active self-help groups, forming a robust network for the successful implementation of this scheme.
Strengthening National Campaigns
The Prime Minister remarked that the scheme complements the Central Government’s Lakhpati Didi campaign, which aims to create 3 crore financially empowered women across India. In Bihar alone, lakhs of women have already become Lakhpati Didis, transforming villages and contributing to societal development.
He also cited other central initiatives including Mudra Yojana, Drone Didi, Bima Sakhi, and Bank Didi campaigns that expand employment opportunities for women, fostering self-reliance.
Health, Safety, and Economic Support
PM Modi underlined that women’s health is central to family welfare. He cited initiatives such as Ujjwala Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana that have improved women’s well-being. Additionally, the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar campaign is conducting over 4.25 lakh health camps for screenings in Bihar, benefiting more than one crore women.
Highlighting financial relief measures, the Prime Minister announced GST reductions on everyday essentials, easing household expenses during the festive season.
Empowering Women Through Ownership
Under schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, women in Bihar are being named as co-owners of homes, ensuring legal ownership and economic security. PM Modi affirmed that over 50 lakh PM Awas homes in Bihar now include women as rightful owners, strengthening their societal position.
Transformative Impact Across Bihar
PM Modi recalled Bihar’s past challenges, including infrastructure gaps and lawlessness, which disproportionately affected women. He emphasized that the current government’s focus on connectivity, law enforcement, and women-centric policies has transformed the state, allowing daughters of Bihar to step out safely, pursue education, employment, and entrepreneurship without fear.
Highlighting the integration with the recently launched Jeevika Nidhi Credit Cooperative Society, the Prime Minister noted that the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana would be effective across Bihar from its inception, supporting over 1 crore women across districts, blocks, clusters, and villages.
