Prime Minister Narendra Modi today chaired the 46th edition of PRAGATI—the Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation platform that brings together the Centre and State governments through technology-driven collaboration.
The meeting focused on reviewing eight major infrastructure projects spanning roads, railways, and ports, collectively worth around ₹90,000 crore and spread across various States and Union Territories.
Key Highlights from the Meeting:
- Focus on PM Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY):
PM Modi stressed strict Aadhaar-based biometric authentication for beneficiary identification. He also called for the integration of complementary schemes related to child care, hygiene, and maternal health into PMMVY. - Urban Planning and Ring Roads:
While reviewing a ring road development project, the PM emphasised incorporating such projects into long-term urban planning, aligned with the city’s projected growth for the next 25–30 years. He urged studying self-sustaining planning models and suggested exploring a Circular Rail Network as a sustainable public transport solution. - Boosting River Tourism via Jal Marg Vikas Project:
PM Modi highlighted the need to create a strong community connect along inland waterways to boost cruise tourism and local entrepreneurship. He emphasised linking this with the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative to support artisans and generate livelihoods. - Emphasis on Integrated Planning Tools:
The PM underlined the importance of using platforms like PM GatiShakti for cross-sectoral synergy and effective infrastructure execution. He also directed departments to keep databases updated for accurate and timely decision-making.
To date, 370 projects worth ₹20 lakh crore have been reviewed under PRAGATI, showcasing the platform’s pivotal role in fast-tracking critical initiatives across India.
