PM Modi Pays Tribute to Maharshi Dayanand

RR Team, February 12, 2026February 12, 2026
New Delhi, February 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday paid heartfelt tributes to Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati on his birth anniversary, remembering the revered social reformer’s lasting contributions to education, Indian culture and social transformation. In a message shared on social media, the Prime Minister described Maharshi Dayanand as a lifelong servant of Bharat Mata whose ideals continue to inspire generations.

Tribute on Social Media

Taking to X, the Prime Minister offered his respectful homage to the founder of the Arya Samaj. In his message in Hindi, he praised Maharshi Dayanand’s dedication to the service of the nation and acknowledged his unparalleled efforts in strengthening Indian traditions.

Prime Minister Modi stated that Maharshi Dayanand not only promoted education but also enriched Indian culture and values through his reformist vision. He added that the reformer’s contributions toward social change remain a source of inspiration for the people of the country.

Champion of Education and Reform

Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, born in 1824, is widely regarded as one of the most influential social and religious reformers of modern India. Through the establishment of the Arya Samaj in 1875, he sought to promote Vedic principles and encourage rational thought within society.

He emphasized the importance of education, especially for women and marginalized communities, at a time when access to learning was deeply unequal. His advocacy for educational reform laid the foundation for institutions that continue to function across India today.

Reviving Indian Culture and Tradition

Maharshi Dayanand played a crucial role in reviving interest in the Vedas and promoting a return to what he described as the pure teachings of ancient scriptures. He strongly opposed superstition and social practices that he believed distorted the essence of Hindu philosophy.

His teachings encouraged self-reliance, ethical living and social responsibility. By advocating a reformist approach rooted in tradition, he sought to bridge the gap between India’s spiritual heritage and the demands of a changing society.

Enduring Legacy

The Prime Minister’s tribute reflects the enduring relevance of Maharshi Dayanand’s ideals in contemporary India. His emphasis on education, social equality and cultural pride resonates with ongoing national conversations about reform and development.

Across the country, various educational institutions and social organizations continue to commemorate his birth anniversary with lectures, community programmes and cultural events. His message of service and reform remains deeply embedded in India’s socio-cultural fabric.

Inspiration for Future Generations

In his message, Prime Minister Modi underlined that Maharshi Dayanand’s efforts in social reform will remain an enduring source of inspiration. As India progresses on its path of growth and modernization, leaders often invoke the reformer’s legacy to emphasize the importance of ethical governance and inclusive development.

The birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati thus serves not only as a moment of remembrance but also as a reminder of the transformative power of education and principled leadership.
