PM Modi to Launch ₹18,000 Cr Projects in Bihar, Bengal

RR Team, August 21, 2025August 21, 2025
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal on August 22 to launch development projects worth nearly ₹18,000 crore. His visit will cover multiple sectors including infrastructure, power, healthcare, urban development, and transport.
In Bihar, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate projects worth ₹13,000 crore. Later in the day, he will travel to Kolkata to unveil projects worth over ₹5,200 crore, including metro rail services and road upgrades.

Major Projects in Bihar

PM Modi will begin his visit in Gaya. Here, he will inaugurate the much-awaited Aunta–Simaria bridge on the River Ganga. This 1.86 km six-lane bridge, built at a cost of ₹1,870 crore, will reduce travel distance for heavy vehicles by over 100 km. It will also improve connectivity to Simaria Dham, an important pilgrimage site and birthplace of poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar.

Alongside, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama four-lane highway section</strong, worth ₹1,900 crore. This will ease congestion and reduce travel time for both passengers and freight movement. He will also launch upgrades on the Bikramganj–Dawath–Dumraon road to boost rural connectivity.

Boost to Power and Health

A major highlight will be the inauguration of the Buxar Thermal Power Plant, built at a cost of ₹6,880 crore. With a 660 MW capacity, the plant will strengthen energy supply in Bihar and improve electricity availability for households and industries.

In healthcare, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Muzaffarpur. The facility will include advanced oncology wards, operating theatres, labs, and a 24-bed ICU. Patients in Bihar and neighboring states will now have access to world-class cancer treatment without traveling to metros.

Urban and Water Projects

Under the Namami Gange program, PM Modi will inaugurate a sewage treatment plant and network at Munger worth ₹520 crore. This will cut pollution in the Ganga and improve sanitation in the region.

Additionally, he will lay foundation stones for several urban infrastructure projects worth ₹1,260 crore under AMRUT 2.0. These include STPs in Jehanabad, Daudnagar, and Barahiya, as well as water supply projects in Bodhgaya and Aurangabad. These efforts will ensure clean drinking water and better sanitation for thousands of households.

Rail Connectivity and Housing

The Prime Minister will flag off two new trains — the Amrit Bharat Express between Gaya and Delhi, and the Buddhist Circuit Train between Vaishali and Koderma. The latter is expected to boost tourism across key Buddhist heritage sites.

On the housing front, the Prime Minister will oversee the Grih Pravesh ceremony for more than 16,000 families under the PM Awas Yojana, handing over keys to new homes for rural and urban beneficiaries.

Projects in West Bengal

In Kolkata, PM Modi will launch metro train services on three new stretches covering 13.61 km. He will flag off the Noapara–Jai Hind Bimanbandar line, which improves access to the airport. Through video conferencing, he will also inaugurate the Sealdah–Esplanade and Beleghata–Hemanta Mukhopadhyay metro lines. These projects will significantly cut travel times for commuters across the city.

He will also inaugurate a newly constructed subway at Howrah Metro Station. Later, he will lay the foundation stone for the Kona Expressway six-lane project, a ₹1,200 crore investment to improve road connectivity between Howrah and Kolkata.
