PM Modi to Unveil 77-ft Ram Statue in Goa, Visit Karnataka Today

RR Team, November 27, 2025November 28, 2025
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will undertake a two-stop visit to Karnataka and Goa on 28 November 2025, engaging in devotional programmes and inaugurating major religious and cultural installations. The day begins in Udupi, where the Prime Minister will join the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana at Sri Krishna Matha and inaugurate the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa. Later, he will travel to Goa to participate in the 550th-year celebrations of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math and unveil a 77-foot bronze statue of Prabhu Shri Ram.

Udupi: Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana and Suvarna Teertha Mantapa

At around 11:30 AM, the Prime Minister will visit Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi to take part in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana, a mass recital of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita involving up to 100,000 participants including students, monks, scholars and citizens. The event is intended as a large-scale devotional observance rooted in the region’s centuries-old Vaishnava tradition.

During the Udupi visit, Shri Modi will inaugurate the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa located in front of the Krishna sanctum. He will also dedicate the Kanaka Kavacha the golden cover for the sacred Kanakana Kindi, the window associated with saint Kanakadasa’s historic darshan of Lord Krishna. Sri Krishna Matha was founded over 800 years ago by Sri Madhvacharya, the progenitor of the Dvaita school of Vedanta, and remains a key pilgrimage site in coastal Karnataka.

Goa: 550th-Year Celebrations at Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will travel to Canacona in South Goa to attend the Sardha Panchashatamanotsava the 550th-year jubilee  of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math. The Math, a leading Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava institution following the Dvaita order, marks this historic milestone with religious rites, cultural programmes and public ceremonies.

As part of the celebrations, Shri Modi will unveil a 77-foot bronze statue of Prabhu Shri Ram at the Math and inaugurate a new Ramayana Theme Park Garden developed by the institution. He will also release a special postal stamp and a commemorative coin and address the gathering on the occasion.

Cultural and Historical Significance

The Prime Minister’s engagements underscore the cultural importance of both institutions. Sri Krishna Matha of Udupi, established by Madhvacharya in the 13th century, has long influenced religious scholarship and devotional practice in South India. Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math, headquartered in Partagali on the banks of the Kushavati river, represents the Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava tradition in Goa and beyond.

The unveiling of the 77-foot Shri Ram statue and the development of a thematic garden are part of broader efforts by religious institutions to preserve heritage, promote pilgrim tourism and create spaces for cultural education.

Logistics and Public Participation

The Udupi programme’s scale featuring the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana  is expected to draw tens of thousands of devotees and visitors. Local authorities and the temple administration have planned arrangements for crowd management, pilgrimage facilities and related amenities to ensure orderly participation.

In Goa, the Math’s anniversary events will involve local and national dignitaries, religious leaders and devotees. The release of a commemorative postal stamp and coin is likely to attract philatelists and collectors, while the Ramayana Theme Park Garden is positioned as a long-term cultural attraction.

Official Sources and Further Information

This report is based on the press release issued by the Press Information Bureau. For official updates and related releases, readers may consult the government’s press portal and the respective temple authorities.
