PM Modi Turns 75, India Celebrates With ‘Sewa Pakhwad

Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 75 on Wednesday, with the day marked by nationwide welfare drives, heartfelt greetings from across the political spectrum, and congratulatory messages from world leaders. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a fortnight-long programme called Sewa Pakhwada, emphasising service-oriented initiatives such as blood donation, cleanliness drives, and public welfare activities.
Wishes from Indian Leadership

President Droupadi Murmu extended warm wishes, describing PM Modi’s leadership as “unparalleled” and urging him to continue guiding the nation to new heights of progress. Union Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted achievements ranging from indigenous COVID-19 vaccines to space exploration milestones, including the Chandrayaan-3 success at the Moon’s southern pole. He credited Modi with balancing tradition and scientific advancement.

Spiritual leader Sadhguru also conveyed his greetings, calling Modi’s life “an epitome of devotion to Bharat” and praising his resilience and vision for the nation’s future.

Global Leaders Send Messages

Wishes poured in from global powers, underscoring India’s rising stature under Modi’s leadership. Former U.S. President Donald Trump called Modi his “friend” and lauded him for doing a “tremendous job,” also linking their conversation to efforts for peace in Ukraine. Modi, in response, thanked Trump and reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening the India-U.S. partnership.

Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov conveyed greetings on behalf of Moscow, appreciating Modi’s contributions to deepening bilateral relations. He described Modi as a leader who has taken Indo-Russian ties “to new heights.”

Sewa Pakhwada Across India

The BJP marked the day with the launch of Sewa Pakhwada, a campaign focused on welfare and public service. In Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and minister Parvesh Verma participated in blood donation drives. Party workers, supporters, and ordinary citizens joined activities that ranged from health check-up camps to Swachh Bharat initiatives.

“Everyone is participating in their own way to wish the Prime Minister,” Verma said. “We pray for his long life and continued service to the nation.”

Symbolic Gestures and Public Celebrations

The celebrations were not limited to politics. Italian chef Valentino Rahim marked the occasion by preparing a tricolour-themed pizza in Modi’s honour. Citizens across India organised cultural programmes, cleanliness drives, and community kitchens to pay tribute to Modi’s call for service and collective responsibility.

Modi at 75: A Journey of Leadership

Born in 1950 in Vadnagar, Gujarat, Narendra Modi rose from humble beginnings to become India’s longest-serving Prime Minister after Jawaharlal Nehru. His leadership has been marked by flagship welfare schemes such as Jan Dhan Yojana, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Ayushman Bharat, along with ambitious global initiatives like the International Solar Alliance.

At 75, Modi remains a central figure in Indian politics and global diplomacy, with his government stressing self-reliance, digital transformation, and India’s role as a leader in sustainable development.
